As the Director of Digital Products& Capabilities you will be responsible for leading an organization focused on ensuring ongoing governance, strategy development, and effective execution of business capability enhancements and Digital Product strategies and roadmaps in support of global Client Group strategic plans and operational needs. You will have the opportunity to develop a Digital Product management organization in an agile, team-of-teams environment, while leading the assessment and evolution of business capabilities, delivering against strategic operating plans, and ensuring key stakeholder engagement. Your expertise and leadership will drive the advancement of Capital Group's Digital Product management practices and foster a strong team culture and vision.
The Global Digital Products& Capabilities group leads capability development and product management for business capability development (processes) and technologies (tech & data) for the client groups globally (Europe & Asia, and North America) to enable and advance business strategies and operations.
We are searching for a leader to join our team who has experience building Digital Product organizations that are both business- and tech-aligned and can effectively link business priorities to technology and product, define a vision and target state, and then communicate this effectively to a wide range of audiences, including C-level executives and key internal/external stakeholders. An innate understanding of how business processes, systems and architecture come together will be key in this role, as well as the ability to engage with product leaders and technologists as effectively as business leaders. We will look for this individual to help us attract the best talent to Capital Group and help advise on how to build critical skills, bench strength, and a robust and forward-thinking Digital Products& Capabilities organization in support of future growth.
In this role you will oversee a team of leaders focused on content, sales enablement, and business architecture, each with their own teams, while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning. This team and role are based from our downtown Los Angeles, CA offices.
More specifically, you will be accountable for:
  • Capabilities Strategy & Implementation: Develop and maintain Client Group business architecture and processes to advance capabilities in alignment with the Global Client Group strategic plans.
    • Analyze existing business processes and technology integrations to identify areas for capability enhancements.
    • Develop and maintain a future-oriented business architecture roadmap in alignment with Client Group strategies and needs, and with technology architecture roadmaps and target states.
    • Collaborate with business stakeholders to evolve and ensure capability and product initiatives complement and enhance overarching strategic objectives.

  • Pillar Strategies & Vision
    • Ensure Capability Pillar leads set and articulate clear vision for capability product portfolio in alignment with CG's goals, needs, and the broader industry and technology landscape.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure Pillar roadmaps are ambitious and achievable, driving innovation and meeting business objectives with appropriate throughput.

  • Developing Product Management Capability: Set product management and development standards for associates, provide training, evaluate, and improve team performance, and maintain transparent communications about team progress towards the achievement of established goals. Lead and mentor a team of product managers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and user-centric design.

  • Operational Oversight: Oversee ongoing operations of the Content, Sales Enablement, and Digital pillars and products, ensuring seamless delivery and operational excellence. Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from conception and design to deployment and post-launch optimization, ensuring products resonate with users and align with business objectives.

  • Stakeholder Management: Establish and effectively manage relationships with key business clients, ensuring clear communication, timely resolution of issues, and the advancement of product management skills within the group.

  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership to a team of approximately 25 FTEs, of which 3 are direct. Oversee the ongoing operations of the Global Digital Products and Capabilities team, fostering a positive and ethical work environment that attracts, retains, and motivates top-quality associates at all levels. Cultivate a team-centric culture and vision, including consideration of extended teams.

  • Budget & Governance: Oversee a multi-million dollar annual product budget. Lead the Client Group Capability Governance Forum to approve capability and technology strategies, funding, and prioritization approach. Ensure initiatives and message priorities align with overarching business objectives.

  • You are an inspiring leader, with product, technology, and business- centered expertise capable of driving successful product transformations and facilitating change within a large-scale, matrixed environment.
  • 10+ years in Digital Product management with a substantial focus on business capabilities development, preferably in the asset management, FinTech, financial services, private equity, and/or management consulting sectors.
  • You have experience leading large-scale initiatives and driving change.
  • You are an accomplished speaker who is credible and influential, able to communicate strategic and highly complex information to diverse stakeholder groups and audiences at all levels.
  • You set clear and challenging goals and are driven for you and your team to realize improved performance and results.
  • You possess a strong level of business acumen, are knowledgeable about the business environment, and can translate key business objectives and customer needs into an effective architecture strategy and plans.
  • You have a global mindset and consider all relevant operating regions when evaluating impact and making key decisions around technology, architecture, and people.
  • You have demonstrated the ability to manage ambiguity and tackle challenging assignments pragmatically.
  • You have an innovative mindset and lead and develop teams by setting the tone, driving business results, investing in their development, and overseeing their performance, along with a successful track record of mentoring and developing talent.
  • You enjoy thinking about solutions to problems from a data-driven perspective and have a bias for data-driven decision making.
  • Hold a bachelor's and/or MBA (preferred) in Business, Technology, or a related field.
  • You are comfortable operating in a hybrid work environment, working both virtually and in-office. This role is based from our Los Angeles, CA headquarters location.

Southern California Base Salary Range: $217,648-$370,002
In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
