Job Description
Industry leading, national financial services company has an immediate need for a Director of Financial Reporting to join their growing NY based team in a full time, hybrid role. This individual will be responsible for team leadership, the monthly reporting processes, financial close, and supervision of general ledger functions and diverse financial reports. Experience with technical accounting including a deep knowledge of GAAP, accounting principles, and SEC reporting is required. This individual will partner with business stakeholders throughout the organization including key executives. They will play a key role in shaping Financial Reporting accuracy and contributing to organizational growth.
- 5+ years of public accounting experience including Financial Reporting responsibilities with an insurance or retirement fund company, pension fund, or similar.
- Drive and oversee the month-end financial close process, ensuring the timely and accurate preparation and review of elements, including journal entries, account reconciliations, intercompany transactions, equity considerations, and ad-hoc analyses
- Maintain strict adherence to assigned deadlines, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial data during the closing process
- Minimum of 5 years of experience demonstrating strong proficiency in applying SEC, Statutory Accounting, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) within the context of the insurance industry
- Extensive knowledge of financial consolidations, eliminations, and segment reporting
- Proven team leadership and project management proficiency, encompassing skills in professional development, and organizational design.
- Demonstrated success leading high profile projects within allocated timeframe and budget.
- Exceptional aptitude for analysis and problem-solving with a track record of solving complex challenges
- Extensive proficiency in both oral and written communication, facilitating clear and effective interactions
- Experience with financial software platforms such as NetSuite or Oracle PBCS.
- BS/BA Degree in Accounting or Finance
- CPA required.
