Donaldson Company, Inc. is seeking a Director, ESG and Sustainability to lead and execute on our strategic objectives related to environmental, social and governance (ESG) and sustainability opportunities and initiatives across our global organization. Will work with various stakeholders including senior management, employees, customers, vendors, and shareholders to execute the Company's approach to ESG and sustainability. The role requires a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape, as well as current opportunities and challenges related to ESG and sustainability in our industry. The role requires an ability to work within a global corporate environment with multiple cross-functional stakeholders to ensure appropriate goals, metrics, and performance measures are enhanced and delivered.

To be considered for this role, you need to have a demonstrated ability to evolve a global program to achieve stated goals and lead a cross-functional team in execution of the strategy. This is a highly visible role working closely with key business and functional leaders including human resources, operations, procurement, logistics and legal. The scope is global and includes all businesses, functions, and locations. We are looking for someone with a passion and demonstrated ability in leading transformative change, an ability to work cross functionally while driving solutions and exceptional decision-making, problem solving and negotiation skills.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Lead the ESG and sustainability strategy, program, priorities, initiatives, roadmap, and team and ensure execution of all the related activities.

  • Proactively lead and execute our internal and external communications strategy that includes the identification and implementation of key performance and data-driven goals, milestones, and metrics.

  • Team up with key internal stakeholders (Business, Investor Relations, Procurement/Supply Chain, Human Resources, Legal, Finance) to define metrics, goals, milestones and performance measures, and partner to effectively implement and track progress.

  • Lead ESG and sustainability reporting, including reporting against common sustainability frameworks and preparing for evolving ESG regulations.

  • Engage with key external stakeholders to raise awareness of our strategy, commitments, and progress on our ESG and sustainability efforts, including framing and delivering ESG messaging for investor engagement, and ensure ESG inquiries are properly vetted and responded to.

  • Collaborate with key global business and functional leaders to identify opportunities, prioritize strengths, and facilitate timely and constructive program evaluations.

  • Responsible for the Corporate Sustainability Report.

  • Develop, lead, and oversee methodologies to assess the viability or success of our ESG and sustainability initiatives and efforts and use advanced analytics to analyze performance and inform decision making.

  • Develop, lead, oversee, and execute a plan for collecting, storing, validating, and distributing ESG and Sustainability data and content for reporting and responding to key stakeholder requests.

  • Understand the broader industry landscape to identify critical competitive needs and collaborate on the business, operations, and functional actions to support our strategy.

  • Actively track global trends, developments, disclosures, and tools, including metrics and KPIs, and effectively communicate updates and implications with the appropriate stakeholders.

  • Continuously monitor and educate stakeholders on ESG and Sustainability developments, industry standards and regulations that may affect the Company and adapting the ESG and Sustainability program as appropriate.

  • Evaluate effectiveness of our ESG and Sustainability program, including reviewing, reporting on, facilitating, and advocating continuous improvement in the company's ratings as measured by leading and relevant ESG standards, frameworks and rating agencies and NGOs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4-year Bachelor's degree

  • 10+ years professional corporate experience

  • Demonstrated experience working with multiple global stakeholders to successfully execute action plans and programs

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively (globally and cross-functionally) in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communicator

  • Strong project management skills

  • Exceptional critical thinking and ability to professionally advance others' understanding of ESG metrics and goals

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or post graduate work in Business, ESG, environmental sustainability or management, corporate sustainability, or a related field

  • Professional corporate experience in the manufacturing or industrial industry

  • 7+ years professional experience related to ESG, sustainability and/or management, or CSR, with direct experience implementing and executing ESG reporting programs

  • Understanding of regulatory processes, compliance and experience with government agencies and officials on policy and regulatory matters

  • Manufacturing company experience

  • Professional certification
