ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Director, Compensation & Benefits provides strategic direction and operational leadership of the compensation and benefits functions for leaders and team members throughout Hearthside Foods. Ensures that the compensation and benefits processes, plans, programs, and tools are competitive, cost-effective, support the business strategies, and enhance organizational capability.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Effectively directs team members in a manner consistent with Hearthside's policies and practices. Ensures the recruitment and retention of team members to meet the needs of the business operations of the department.
  • Provides strategic direction for Hearthside's compensation and benefits programs. Includes oversight of programs to enhance controls, reduce risk, and maintain compliance.
  • Leads the design, implementation and policy development of compensation programs that include job evaluation, salary structures, merit matrices, salary range development, market pricing studies, and special reporting.
  • Monitors and analyzes benchmark data, trend information, and economic projections to ensure the compensation strategy maintains a competitive market position and is responsive to the business needs.
  • Manages the participation in or conducts and/or purchases salary surveys to ensure compensation objectives are achieved.
  • Provides leadership, professional development, and direction to the team on matters such as job evaluations, job offers, promotional increases, total compensation assessments, special pay studies, process improvements, and evaluation of our programs.
  • Directs the health and welfare, wellness, and retirement benefit package including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, wellness, EAP, and 401(k) plans.
  • Maintains vendor and broker relationships including outsourcing to ensure fulfillment of benefit plan administration.
  • Monitors competitive trends in the industry and proposes recommendations for new compensation and benefit plans and program design.
  • Designs tools, guidelines, templates, and communication materials to effectively educate leaders and team members on all compensation and benefits programs.
  • Creates audit processes to ensure that compensation and benefits standards are being followed organization wide.
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate filings for qualified plans, IRS and ERISA mandated submissions, and employee communications including but not limited to Form 5500s, Summary Annual Reports (SARs), ACA reporting/1095s, and Summary Plan Descriptions (SPDs).
  • Keeps apprised of federal, state, and local laws and regulations to ensure company compliance.
  • Develops techniques for compiling, preparing, and presenting data to executive leadership for areas of responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 8+ years of human resources experience, 5-7 years experience in compensation and/or benefits discipline
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related degree
  • CCP, CEBs or CBP certifications preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of the complexity of a dynamic fast-paced, growing environment on a multi-national scale
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Ability to communicate with various levels of employees including executive leadership
  • Expertise in the development of strategy and administration of compensation and benefits
  • Ability to scale a rewards function to support the company's business goals and growth, with a strong awareness of best practices
  • Analytical while also creative
  • Ability to deliver programs that align with the philosophies of company but know when flexibility must be applied to address local market trends and needs
  • Well versed in the various regulations surrounding compensation and benefits
  • Track record of driving programs to a conclusion on time and in the budget through delegation and partnering with appropriate team members and outside vendors
  • Demonstrated experience in performing complex reporting and analysis. Strong analytical, mathematical, statistical and conceptual skills; excel expertise is required
  • Excellent business and people operations acumen, comfortable navigating ambiguity and thrives in a rapidly changing, face-paced environment
