Your Team & Role
As a Director, Cloud Site Reliability Engineer on the Cloud SRE team, you will partner with product owners, tech leads, designers, software engineers and delivery professionals to improve our AWS cloud offering in the areas of cloud reliability, observability, disaster recovery, monitoring & alerting, change management and incident response. You will design, plan, administer, develop, or maintain applications in cloud-based environments as we solve sophisticated business problems, deploy innovative products, services, and experiences to delight our customers! In addition to your cloud and technical experience, you will bring excellent problem solving, communication and teamwork skills, along with agile ways of working, strong business insight, an inclusive leadership attitude and a continuous learning focus to all that you do.
Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement and maintain cloud-native solutions with a focus on observability, disaster recovery, security, and high availability.
  • Implement solutions which promote self-service access to or automated operations functions.
  • Oversee and streamline change management procedures, efficiently handling daily production change requests to ensure seamless operations.
  • Lead incident response, troubleshooting, and resolution efforts.
  • Evaluate requests for expanded access in stage/prod environments.
  • Work with the business units to review applications and advise if they can meet their disaster recovery and high availability goals.
  • Collaborate with product owners and other team members in understanding needs and defining feature stories to understand the system end-to-end and deliver robust solutions that bring about business impact.• Bring an applied understanding of relevant and emerging technologies, begin to see opportunities to provide input to the team and coach others, and embed learning and innovation in the day-to-day.

Technical Qualifications:
  • 3+ years experience in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Understanding of foundational AWS services such as VPCs, EC2, S3, RDS, Auto Scaling Groups, CloudWatch Logs, etc.
  • In-depth knowledge of security and IAM within AWS, including the management and operation of Security Groups, KMS Keys, VPC NACLs, and SCPs.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of AWS networking concepts, including VPCs, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway, Cloud WAN, Route 53.
  • In depth knowledge of Infrastructure as Code with CloudFormation or Terraform
  • Ability to proficiently write code in Python
  • Ability to build applications with AWS Serverless technologies like Lambda, DynamoDB, SNS, SQS, EventBridge, S3
  • Experience using Docker within container orchestration platforms such as AWS ECS, Fargate, EKS, Google Anthos, or others.
  • Familiarity with one or more observability and log/event aggregation and monitoring systems such as Splunk, Dynatrace, CloudWatch
  • Solid understanding of the SDLC process and cloud operations, best practices for stage/prod changes
  • Experience using Git for source control management.
  • Comfortable in a Linux environment.
  • Experience in working in an Agile/Scrum-focused organization

Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with GCP and Azure
  • DevOps, DevSecOps, Pipeline experience - Jenkins, Cloudbees
  • Incident response experience
  • Service Now developer experience

Note: Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $168,600.00 to $228,000.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location, candidate experience, and skills. Roles may also be eligible for additional compensation and/or benefits. Eligibility to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
