Role: Director, Channel Strategy & Patient Services

Target Date of Hire: January 2024

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director, Channel Strategy & Patient Services to join a dynamic Market Access and Policy team, and serve as business owner, and day to day point of contact with our US 3PL, specialty pharmacy (SPP) and distribution channel partners, and will be responsible for our government program participation, price reporting, and calculations. As a member of the Reneo Pharmaceuticals team, you will have the opportunity to impact change while playing a vital role in building and scaling our organization to achieve regulatory approvals and commercial success of our drug candidates.

Reporting directly to the VP, Market Access & Policy, the Director's essential functions will include engagement and alignment with key internal company stakeholders and external vendors, with an emphasis on ensuring seamless patient access to Mavodelpar. The Director will deliver key Reneo Patient Services offerings and ensure execution of all patient referrals and product distribution, with the objective of adding to the provider / patient brand experience.

It is critical that the Director have past Commercial, 3PL, Hub, and specialty drug distribution experience and can identify and drive innovative initiatives around US Market / patient access strategy, KPI identification, performance, process and programs, and potential payer customer engagement models.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • US 3PL, SPP, and Specialty Distributor (SD) channel and Hub partner owner, overseeing account and program management, performance and enhancement, patient reimbursement support, inventory management, billing, and contracting.
  • Partner with Reneo Data and Supply Chain teams to ensure appropriate management of SPP / SD inventory / days on hand, manage orders and returns, and design ongoing reports for continuous performance tracking.
  • Conduct distribution provider / vendor quarterly and annual business reviews.
  • Support the evolution and identification of needed distribution model and network partner changes based on existing and future product / patient, market, and/or regulatory and legislative needs.
  • Partner with Reneo Sales / Sales Ops teams to ensure seamless product access and support for all patient referrals, trend monitoring, and team trainings.
  • Management and partnership with the Reneo Finance team on ongoing Government Program (Medicare Part D Coverage Gap, Medicaid Rebate, FSS, PHS, VA Pricing program) participation and management with Government Price Reporting (GP) vendor.
  • Certify with Reneo Finance and GP vendor, reconciliation of all government price calculations, rebates, chargebacks, and pricing submissions to all government entities, including Medicare Part D, Medicaid rebate processing, Statutory State Price Reporting, Contractual State Pharmaceutical Assistance and Supplemental Programs / Reporting, PHS 340B, VA/DoD.
  • Ensure the timely implementation of new Government program policies or changes in calculation methodology with program GP vendor.
  • Partner with third party GP / GTN vendor to support Reneo Finance department in developing and maintaining a Gross to Net accruals and forecasting model.
  • Provide product channel partner, distribution, Patient Services, and government price reporting subject matter expertise to the broader organization. This includes assisting field sales / sales leadership with patient access intelligence, trends and pull-through initiatives.
  • Align revenue forecast information with Commercial Operations, Finance and product supply and demand needs with Supply Chain through S&OP process.
  • Oversight and vendor management of channel data aggregation partner.
  • Manage the administration of managed care contracts, including formulary checking, assignment of class of trade and dispute resolution with payers (if required).
    • Proactive identification and reactive analytics and insights to the business that helps improve forecasting, contracting decisions, pricing decisions, timing, and general business planning.
  • Monitor the competition to understand how the evolving market will impact current and future market access strategies.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to the broader organization, including competitive and product coverage access intelligence, healthcare reform, landscape trends, and pull-through initiatives. This includes cross-functional support of corp. training initiatives, content, tools and presentation development in partnership with Training and Cross-Departmental leaders.
  • Represent Reneo at Key Industry Conferences (e.g. AMCP, Asembia, NASP, PCMA, NAMCP, etc.).
  • Ensure that all activities and interactions are carried out with the highest ethical and professional standards, and that all work is accomplished with quality and in accordance with Reneo values.

Preferred Experience & Education:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree required; sciences or business preferred, MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of overall industry experience in biotech or pharmaceuticals (i.e. market access and reimbursement, sales, sales management, marketing, training, or sales operations).
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive Market Access Trade (i.e., 3PL, SPP, SD), and/or Supply Chain (3PL) distribution, and Hub responsibility, with either direct or supporting responsibility around Government Pricing / reporting, regulations, analytics and insights.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven understanding of key revenue recognition reports that are garnered from the supply chain (3PL, SPP, SD) and key data integration partners.
  • Experience with rare/orphan drugs is required.  Therapeutic area experience is a plus.
  • Product launch experience is required, and company start-up experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, with working knowledge of government pricing practices (calculations methodologies, healthcare programs, and supporting regulations), and trade systems and processes.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to adapt to a changing environment, implement creative solutions to complex problems, and ability to function in a project leadership role.
  • Leads with strong business acumen and a compliance mindset.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships, including direct collaboration with vendors and other third parties.
  • Superior interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with great attention to detail.
  • Passionate about patients and building a new commercial organization.
  • Advanced Virtual / Zoom, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance feedback and evaluations.
  • Other related supervisory responsibilities as assigned.

Work Location & Travel Requirements:

  • This position may be home-office based (remote) or located in our Irvine, California office. Although the position can be remote, this leader will be required to interface regularly, and in person, with the Irvine, CA based Sales Operations, Finance, Legal, and Compliance teams.
  • If remote, the role is expected to be in the Irvine office approximately once per month, or at such other frequency as required by business necessity or as reasonably required by the position's manager.
  • Domestic and occasional international travel will be required from time to time as needed (approximately 50%).

The annual base salary range we reasonably expect to pay is $210,000 - $245,000 depending on qualifications and experience. This base salary range is an estimate, and the actual base salary may vary based on Company compensation practices. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as years of relevant experience and skillset, complexity and responsibility of role, and job duties/requirements. In addition, the compensation for this position may also include eligibility for an annual cash bonus and participation in our equity program. Benefits offered include retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and sick days, and health benefits to include medical, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
