Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a highly qualified, mission-oriented leader of the Business Development team supporting the Global Surveillance Division. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Aeronautics Systems Sector Strategy and Growth Team, reporting to the Vice President for Growth. This position will be located in either Redondo Beach, CA; San Diego, CA; Melbourne, FL; or Falls Church, VA.
Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Division Level Support

  • Overall Lead of Business Development professionals supporting multiple opportunities, captures, programs, and growth within the Global Surveillance Division bi-coastal team.
  • Oversees and directs BD activities of team members to generate sustainable, profitable, growth over time.
  • With primary responsibility, and partnership with International Growth director, guide and direct growth efforts to expand global business opportunities.
  • Maintains clear and consistent communications with Division leadership, to include recommendations to better align growth opportunities with Division and Sector strategy and financial objectives.
  • Ensures expectations and priorities are clearly communicated, understood, and actioned by Divisional BD team members.
  • Leverages data to develop clear and measurable BD activities in support of Divisional objectives, allocates assigned BD resources in concert with those activities, and tracks progress.
  • Identifies and oversees implementation of Business Development campaigns incorporating new products and/or industries, technologies, or services.
  • Partners closely with current and future customers to deeply understand and inform customer needs, wants, and concerns.
  • Provides insights on potential markets and licensing opportunities to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensures new or improved product and program opportunities and/or business models include a basic business case analysis, and that team members coordinate with internal departments in identifying/implementing Business Development campaigns.
  • Key Division champion in use of Salesforce for pipeline management and customer resource management with accountability to team use.

Functional Leadership
  • Works closely with NGAS Strategy and Business Management leaders to inform and improve alignment of strategic, market, and business objectives and execution across the Sector.
  • Champions use of modern tools and practices to maximize effectiveness of BD activities within the Division and across the Sector and Corporation.
  • Develops and maintains a system to continually assess and improve BD effectiveness. Proactively shares best practices and lessons learned with other relevant BD stakeholders.
  • Ensures that Business Development activities are carried out in accordance with Government, customer, and Northrop Grumman policies, procedures and processes.
  • Actively participates in the Growth Review Board and provides critical assessments of potential opportunities across the Sector.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university and a minimum of 10 years OR Master's Degree and 8 years of combined experience in any of the following: Defense Industry Business Development and/or Strategy, Program Management, Business Management, Active Military Service, or Engineering
  • Able to travel domestic and internationally, when required (estimate 50%)
  • Demonstrated leadership experience - either leading direct reports, campaign teams, or integrated product teams
  • Strong understanding of national strategy, military roles and missions, organization, enterprise process and business contacts
  • Knowledge of the DoD acquisition and planning/programming processes
  • Active In scope DOD Secret Clearance or higher

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree
  • Active Top Secret Clearance
  • Proven experience developing and sustaining customer relationships to drive program results
  • Impeccable leadership and communication skills
  • Business Development or program management/execution experience in one or more programs within the Global Surveillance portfolio
  • Familiarity with Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems and Global Surveillance Division products and customers
  • Trained in BD and/or Capture processes
  • Experience with CRM and pipeline management tools such as Salesforce

Salary Ranges:
Melbourne, FL - $164,600.00 -$ 247,000.
Redondo Beach, CA / Falls Church, VA / San Diego, CA - $190,600.00 - $286,000.00
Salary Range: $164,600.00 - $286,000.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
