Position Summary:
Locating and operating directional boring machines in the construction, maintenance and repair of electrical underground distribution systems.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Always comply with proper safety standards / procedures and work practices according to Infratech or the customer, whichever standard is more stringent.
- Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized underground.
- Maintains company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order.
- Locates Head and path for Horizontal Directional Bore Rig.
- Operation of Mini Excavators and Hydro Vacs, Hand digging when required.
- Clears brush and digs up utility lines.
- Operates line location instruments and leak detection instruments when necessary.
- Understand directional boring procedures and process.
- Load material or equipment as necessary to perform duties.
- Maintain a safety first mentality.
- Assisting in potholing, remediation, and setting handholes.
- Able to perform rigorous physical labor.
- Understands operation of heavy equipment.
- Understand the proper use and maintenance of hand tools.
- Capable of receiving and following directions. Capable of learning basic knowledge of materials used. Possess a basic knowledge of materials used.
- Understands the basic concepts of equipment set up and grounding.
- Capable of working at heights and/or confined spaces.
- Understands minimum approach distance.
- Understands when to wear personnel protective equipment.
- Able to identify different types of materials used.
- Must be able to work outside, frequently in inclement weather.
- Does all other related work as required to complete the job.
