Jr Copywrite (3-5 years)

POSITION PURPOSE

The Senior Copywriter takes a leadership role in driving messaging, strategy and developing copy for developing educational digital copy supporting customers and associates. Candidate will be responsible for the accuracy of content, editorial consistency, and correct brand positioning. The Senior Copywriter must be a highly creative problem solver and adept at collaborating and negotiating with key stakeholders to execute deliverables with exceptional quality. This role partners with creative designers, merchants, project managers, SEO partners and senior leadership to deliver clear content and helpful microcopy across Services experiences.

MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• 30% – Writes, proofreads and publishes: editorial and/or services copy for all assigned categories and media channels; research industry standards, vendor, and competitor sources to develop copy that aligns to brand and copy standards. Recommend User testing and A/B testing when appropriate.
• 30% – Content Collaboration: Negotiates with marketing and merchants on focus and content to promote and protect the brand; ensures message is consistent with strategy and leadership vision; provides a connected messaging/customer experience across channels.
• 20% – Training and Documentation: Ongoing responsibility around CMS training and documentation, partnering with internal teams to identify bugs, operational efficiencies, any opportunity for enhancements both for internal and external users
• 20% – Utilize Style Guide to develop and evolve content standards, content and messaging strategies, best practices, and processes.

• This position has no direct reports

ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS: Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable

Travel: Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must be eighteen years of age or older.

Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Additional Minimum Qualifications:

Education Required: The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.

Years of Relevant Work Experience: 5+ years

Physical Requirements: Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about.

Preferred Qualifications:

• B.S. or B.A. in Communications, Journalism, English
• 5+ years of demonstrated experience in developing and managing content in a digital environment while positioned as a Copywriter or Content Strategist
• A portfolio of work that demonstrates a deep understanding of the design thinking process and user-centered content choices
• Working knowledge of SEO best practices in online content and understanding of linking strategies
• Understanding of educational content and how to best drive traffic to website
• Experience creating, editing, and proofing copy in a minimum of two of the following mediums: print, OLA, email, web
• Previous employment in a retail environment working with a team of designers
• Working knowledge of Mac OS, Microsoft Office, CMS/editing software or similar DTP program required, other emerging platforms a plus
• Well-developed communication skills including ability to articulate creative concepts and rationale for stake holders and team
• Competent in strategic brainstorming, content development and creative brief execution.
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, self-manage workload and prioritize deadlines
• Attention to detail in a fast-paced environment, problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Adaptability to changes in process, technology, strategy

“The hourly pay range for this position is $20 to $35/hr (dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
