Salary: Starting at $17.00
Hours: M-F 1P-9P 40 hours a week, hybrid work schedule, requires some weekends for community engagment activities
Travel: Devereux New Jersey will provide a company van for transporting the youth for community engagement
The Recreation Specialist reports directly to the Program Director. The position is a hybrid position. Requiring travel to 7 treatment homes in Monmouth Ocean Counties throughout the week for youth community engagement.
What Devereux Looks for in YOU:
- Design, create and implement recreation and social activities for children and youth with behavioral and emotional challenges
- Encourage youth to engage in a variety of recreation and leisure activities that focus on skill acquisition and community integration
- Be creative and resourceful in planning activities in order to successfully engage the youth
- Communicate and collaborate with Child Family Team members, attend meetings, enter engagement notes in our electronic database and complete all required documentation.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
A high school diploam or GED and one year of experience working with youth in a group home setting OR
An associate's degree or bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field that is unrelated to social work or psychology and six months experience working with youth in a group setting OR
An associate's or bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in socia work, psychology or a related field.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
