Esperanza Community Services in searching for candidates for All Shifts (first, second, and third) at multiple locations in Chicago, IL. Full-time and Part-time shifts are available. Paid training is provided.
Overtime Pay: $27 an hour
At Esperanza Community Services we provide care to over 200 children and adults diagnosed with Autism and other Developmental Disabilities throughout Chicago. Staff members assist people by providing support to help them achieve their fullest potential to thrive in their communities.
The role of a DSP ensures people diagnosed with Developmental Disabilities are cared for at both their residential homes as well as their community day service site. DSP's work with people to ensure they achieve their goals outlined in their Individual Support Plans (ISPs), utilize strategies outlined in behavior management programs and are responsible for the overall wellbeing of the people they serve and support. Additionally, a DSP will assure the environment is clean and free from safety hazards, and document any incidents that may arise. The DSP will also coordinate and assist program participants during community outings, special events, home visits and transportation to and from community day services.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED or equivalency required;
- Familiarity with the Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) population is preferred but not required;
- Proficiency in Spanish is a plus;
- Must be able to pass DSP certification program;
- Passion and commitment working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities;
- Must be at least 18 years old;
- Must pass a reading comprehension test and pre-employment background check screening requirements;
- Successful completion of First Aid/CPR certification required within four months of hire or current certification;
- Complete Medication Administration training courses within four months of hire;
- Current, valid Illinois driver’s license and proof of insurance required;
- Fluent verbal and written English and Spanish communication preferred;
- Willing to work evenings, weekends, overnights and overtime as needed;
- Flexibility and ability to work All Shifts;
- May be required to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds;
- May be required to lift and transfer individuals when necessary.
