Job description

Moms First, formerly Marshall Plan for Moms, is a national, non-profit organization transforming our workplaces, our government, and our culture so moms can thrive. Through our programming, thought leadership and grassroots movement of a million moms and supporters, we are fighting for the structural changes America's mothers need and deserve including affordable child care, gender neutral paid leave, and equal pay for moms. The organization is housed within the non-profit Girls Who Code and founded by Reshma Saujani, a long-time advocate for women's economic empowerment.

We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented Development Manager who can collaborate closely with the Director of Development. The Development Manager will be instrumental in securing financial support from all donor types, nurturing donor relationships, and ensuring the long-term financial health of the organization. A strong writer with exceptional organizational skills, the Development Manager will be the engine of the fundraising team, researching new opportunities, preparing senior leaders for meetings, and executing the follow up to secure gifts and steward important relationships. This role will also own our donor management system, Salesforce, and discrete fundraising campaigns, like our end of year grassroots giving campaign.

The ideal candidate is energized by the opportunity to be part of a fast-paced team that is setting the national agenda on women's economic empowerment and to work alongside a highly sought-after principal with a significant public profile. This role provides a unique opportunity for a rising leader to get exposure to big partnership opportunities, touch all facets of a high functioning development shop, and proactively shape how the organization does business to drive impact in the world.

The Moms First team is remote, with a hybrid work option for New York City based team members. This role may be performed virtually, however we prefer candidates based in the NYC-metro area. If remote, candidates must be willing to travel and be based near a major airport with direct flights to NY, DC, and LA.
RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Work with the Director of Development to develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive annual and multi-year fundraising plan for the organization that drives revenue growth and long-term financial sustainability
    • Identify donors, including foundation, individual, and corporate donor types, prepare briefing materials for meetings, and manage all follow up to secure gifts and/or steward partners
    • Write compelling grant proposals, reports, one-pagers, and other fundraising materials
    • Plan and coordinate fundraising campaigns, including the end of year giving campaign, to engage current donors and attract new supporters
    • Assist with planning and executing special events and projects (mailings, revenue reports, donor tracking, maintaining RSVP lists, run event check-in, budget recap of revenue for events)
    • Manage and maintain Salesforce, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of donor information, contributions, and interactions
    • Create consistency and efficiency in the development department's data collection, maintenance, and reporting
    • As needed, staff the CEO at meetings and external events, like conferences
QUALIFICATIONS:
    • 5+ years of proven experience in nonprofit development or a related field
    • Demonstrated experience managing against ambitious development goals
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders
    • Strong skills in grant writing and proposal development
    • Proficient in using donor management software and other relevant tools, with strong preference for Salesforce experience
    • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
    • Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative, organization, and attention to detail
    • Team player who relishes a good "roll up your sleeves" moment; brings a flexible, creative, and analytical approach to problem solving
    • Committed to the mission of finishing the fight for women's equality and the values of diversity, equity and inclusion
$70,000 - $90,000 a year
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Girls Who Code, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

Moms First is committed to creating and maintaining a workplace environment that allows employees to be engaged, productive and successful. When we say we "put moms first," this means we believe that moms should be supported and able to put their needs first; this value extends to our own colleagues and means that we expect and encourage one another to prioritize our health and well-being, as well as our families, whether it's a midday therapy session, a doctor's appointment, or school pick up and drop off.

We value our team members and offer employees a broad range of benefits to round out our total compensation package. Our ambitious, high impact, and supportive culture allows people to do their best work every day. We offer policies and programs that encourage balance and support health and well-being, and we are always looking for new ways to maintain a culture where our people excel and lead healthy, happy lives.

Our competitive compensation and benefits package includes generous PTO, 3 medical insurance plans, vision, dental, 401(k) with match, hybrid work, virtual days, paid parental leave, medical flexible spending plans, life insurance, short and long term disability.
Moms First is an equal opportunity employer committed to a policy of equal treatment and opportunity in every aspect of its hiring and promotion process without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sexual orientation, partnership status, gender and/or gender identity or expression, marital, parental or familial status, national origin, ethnicity, veteran or military status, age, disability, or any other legally protected basis. Racial and ethnic minorities and men are encouraged to apply for vacant positions at all levels. Moms First is not able to sponsor employment visas.

Moms First is committed to providing access, equal opportunity and reasonable accommodation for individuals with disabilities in employment, its services, programs, and activities. For individuals with a disability who would like to request an accommodation, please contact hr@girlswhocode.com
