Development
The Development Internship will provide an opportunity to learn about nonprofit fundraising, donor cultivation and stewardship, event planning, data management, and development operations. The intern will benefit from direct mentorship from the Director of Foundation Relations.
Tasks & Duties
- Generate thoughtful acknowledgment letters for donations received by organization.
- Prepare meeting materials including itineraries, meeting internal strategy notes, donor information, and PowerPoint presentations for donor/prospect meetings.
- Regularly interact with Museum supporters including members of Museum's Board of Trustees and major Museum donors.
- Prepare critical grant reports.
- Maintain accurate donor records and information in organization's CRM (Salesforce).
- Support staff with events including tracking RSVPs, event check-in, and event-related communications.
Possible projects
- Grant writing and reporting: own writing and submitting a grant proposal(s) and/or a grant report(s). This will be a primary focus of the internship.
- Donor prospect research project: own donor prospect to donor gift over course of internship.
- Support staff with event management and delivery.
- Tracking and evaluating all development efforts.
- Create a stewardship piece to update Expansion donors on project progress and impact.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Be responsible, flexible, hard‐working, ethical, and committed to the mission of The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
- Possess a high level of organizational skills and be detail oriented.
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Be able to juggle multiple tasks and receive feedback and direction from Rock Hall directors, managers, and project leaders.
- Ability to work independently and as a part of team.
- Ability to prioritize and manage projects with multiple deadlines.
- Ability to work in a professional fundraising environment.
- Comfortable working with team members who split time working in the office and remotely.
- Open to new ideas while being able to professionally present new perspectives and ideas.
- Desire to learn new skills and gain new professional nonprofit experiences.
- Must be proficient in computer skills including Office 365
Preferred Experiences
- Priority consideration will be given to graduate level students.
ELIGIBILITY
Intern applicants must be currently enrolled in a college (preference to students currently in a graduate school program).
Details
- Rock Hall internships are paid positions and for enrichment purposes must be willing to work within other departments. This includes working scheduled shifts with the Fan Engagement and Museum Retail teams.
- The internship is onsite, starting May 29th and ending August 16th. Exact end dates could be flexible with some internships.
- Estimated weekly hours for this internship: 40 hours

All intern positions will get a chance to work on the floor of the museum to learn firsthand how we create the world class guest experience for our visitors from around the globe. Lastly, all our interns will get to experience summer at the Rock Hall and Cleveland, getting to know the city that help build Rock & Roll, and all of the events and excitement we curate each summer.
