ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:
The Office of Advancement at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) works to create meaningful connections with the School s community of stakeholders that foster advocacy, pride, and philanthropic support. We do this through strategic communications, events, alumni programming, philanthropic councils, volunteer opportunities, and facilitating opportunities to make an investment in SAIC.
JOB SUMMARY:
As a member of the Office of Advancement (OA), partners with colleagues to advance philanthropic opportunities for the Gene Siskel Film Center (GSFC). Serves as a liaison to the GSFC in order to become a content expert and advocate. In coordination with the GSFC and OA leadership, contribute to planning and executing the annual strategy of communication and engagement in order to qualify, solicit and steward donors and meet philanthropic goals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborating with OA and the Executive Director of the GSFC, assist with all aspects of fundraising including but not limited to sponsorships, annual giving, individual giving, corporate and foundation support.
- Responsible for the preparation and execution of GSFC council meetings, including drafting detailed agendas, preparing materials, and recording comprehensive meeting notes to ensure effective communication and action item follow-up.
- Assist with fundraising and stewardship special events including planning, execution, post event reports, and wrap up.
- Liaise with the GSFC and corporate, foundation, and government relations teams to manage grant proposal and reporting calendar, and submit materials.
- Partner with Marketing Communications for philanthropy collateral.
- Partner with annual giving to develop appeal strategy to prospects and donors for the GSFC s annual fund; coordinates with GSFC on annual fundraising outreach to members to increase giving pipeline.
- Maintain the donor database using Raiser s Edge. Responsible for data management including maintaining database accuracy and timeliness; partners with SAIC Advancement Operations to coordinate GSFC data reports. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree desired; development, business, marketing and communications, fundraising or arts administration background preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience at a non-profit organization in fundraising highly desirable
- Must have a high degree of professionalism, discretion, flexibility, and strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
- Ability to multi-task with a strong sense of meeting deadlines
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft and Google office applications; InDesign, Photoshop, and other design applications strongly preferred. Familiarity with constituent relationship database, such as Raiser's Edge, preferred
- This position is based in Chicago and may require some nights and weekends
