The Digital Scholars Program is an intensive summer pre-college program which aims to build a deeper and more diverse pool of students pursuing computing and technology-related fields in Illinois. High school students and incoming freshman at City Colleges of Chicago and Illinois institutions can take courses in computer science, data science, electrical and computer engineering, or mobile app development, as well as build college and career-readiness skills, and increase their exposure to and connectivity with Chicago's dynamic tech community. The iOS App Design & DevelopmentAssistant Instructor position is a 6-week assignment to implement quality instructional and assessment practices with the purpose of positively impacting student achievement. This position will report to the Associate Director of High School Programming.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Becoming familiar with the iOS App Design & Development curriculum framework and following the strategic pacing plan set by the - Lead Instructor for the targeted content to be completed within the 6-week program
- Supporting an engaging curriculum implementation strategy which alternates between whole group, small group, and individual learning experiences
- Implementing traditional and non-traditional teaching methods to provide instruction and support to Scholars based on their individual needs, abilities, and interests
- Establishing, managing, and maintaining a safe and equitable classroom environment which ensures daily outcomes are met and - Scholars stay on track relative to larger program outcomes
- Supporting the Lead Instructor in qualitatively assessing Scholar learning each week, providing feedback and learning support as needed
- Supporting the Lead Instructor in documenting techniques and approaches used to implement the iOS App Design & Development curriculum to serve as a program resource
- Participating in weekly staffing meetings to ensure information is exchanged and used in the development and support of the iOS App Design & DevelopmentAssistant Instructor and Scholar learning experiences

RequiredQualifications:
- Experience with the Swift Coding Language & XCode IDE
- Bachelor's degree in education or a related field from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of one (1) years professional experience in education or a related field
PreferredQualifications:
- App Development with Swift Associate or Certified User Certifications
- Experience teaching Computer Science in the high school or middle grades setting
- Demonstrated effectiveness working with minoritized populations of students (eg: Black, Latinx, young women, non-binary, and first generation)

This position is temporary, non-benefit eligible, and is limited to 900 hours.
