Summary:

This is an East Coast opportunity and the working hours for this position are from 8:00am to 5:00pm in the Eastern time zone.

The Senior Desktop Support Technician is a part of a team of IT professionals who provide in-house technical PC hardware and software support. This person works with a variety of equipment and systems including desktops, laptops, network connectivity, and Windows software. This person implements special projects which require researching new technology and solving complex problems. In addition, the Sr. Desktop Support Technician provides support to the Service Desk Manager by assisting with team ticket queue management, inventory, and training of junior IT staff.

Technical Responsibilities

• Assist personnel with PCs (Windows & Mac), servers, networks, printers, software, and phones.
• Package, test, deploy, update, and troubleshoot software.
• Perform routine network and PC installation in addition to troubleshooting, maintaining, and resolving any related issues.
• Setup or remove users in Powin systems.
• Remove/disable system access for departing employees.
• Analyze desktop hardware and software process to recommend efficiencies.
• Act as primary contact for Tier 3 escalations.
• Work in Azure AD, JAMF, and other management tools.
• Regularly audit IT owned software/services to ensure privileges are appropriately assigned.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior members of ITSD team.

Process Responsibilities

• Identify documentation candidates and perform or delegate documentation tasks.
• Participate in regular on-call rotation, including nights and weekends
• Monitor inventory and execute standard purchases independently.
• Maintain asset database and work with ITSD Manager on budget as needed.
• Coordinate upgrade of desktop equipment and software.
• Prioritize and manage ITSD teams tasks within a ticketing system.
• Escalate or delegate issues to other IT staff as needed.
• Train personnel on how best to use systems and tools.
• Follow Powin IT Security compliance and guidelines.

Qualifications:

• 4+ years of IT experience.
• A+ and MCP certifications a plus.
• Experience with Windows, macOS, and Linux systems (laptop & desktop).
• Experience with AzureAD, InTune, Office365 or comparable identity, MDM, and business software suites.
• Experience with Atlassian Suite (Confluence, Jira, Jira Service Management) or comparable ITSM tools.
• ERP (NetSuite) experience a plus.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to perform tasks effectively with some ambiguity and great flexibility.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to travel to Portland OR on occasion.
