A day in the life
At Prologis, The Development management team delivers about $6 billion worth of projects annually and is constantly looking for opportunities to innovate and improve portfolio performance. Reporting into the Global Planning, Performance, and Innovation team (PPI), this role will be responsible for leading the standardization and implementation of building design processes and components across the portfolio, and work with select design consultants to enable our goal of simplifying and advancing the design process. This includes project design optimization, and technology driven design quantity and cost estimation. You will work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment on current and future development opportunities.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervise a team of external design consultants with the aim of supporting industrial building development efforts and implementing established Prologis design standards.
  • Develop and manage a project tracking mechanism that captures various project data points for reference and use among internal stakeholders.
  • Manage the select design consultant program, including establishing preferred agreements, conducting periodic supplier performance reviews to evaluate effectiveness and ensure quality.
  • Investigate solutions and lead focus groups with the goal of standardizing project components and attributes which facilitate a procurement advantage, help meet our corporate development and sustainability goals, and enable us to construct the "warehouse of the future."
  • Drive the adoption of innovative design tools and technologies which enable more effective design processes, empower more intelligent up-front decision making, and facilitate data collection on property characteristics and other project elements.
  • Manage and maintain Prologis prototypical design guidelines and outline specifications, including making regular updates and improvements and communicating updates to internal stakeholders and external design consultants.
  • Coordinate and facilitate design review and optimization workshops in collaboration with Prologis Development Managers throughout the Americas; capture, evaluate, and catalog ideas for viability and deployment; analyze and report on trending ideas for review by Senior Leadership; incorporate and scale ideas into standard building and TI specifications.
  • Leverage technology to provide analytic and data collection support for material quantities, unit costs and detailed project productivity information with the goal of building a "connected data" digital ecosystem.

Building blocks for success
Required:
  • 5-7 years of professional experience in Architecture and managing design teams and design programs in a construction environment.
  • 3-5 years' experience in project design and implementing design standards.
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management
  • Extensive experience with design and document management tools (i.e., SpecLink, Revit, Autodesk, Bluebeam, BIM 360 and SketchUp)
  • Travel up to 20% of the time to various project locations.

Hiring Salary Range of $110,000.00 - $138,000.00. Salary to be determined by the candidate's location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. This role is also eligible for Prologis' commission plan.
