What you'll do

The Design Operations Manager amplifies the impact of Angi's design and UX research teams by simplifying and clarifying processes, optimizing communication and alignment both internally and with the broader organization, and empowering teams with best-in-class tooling and learning opportunities to grow and excel professionally. They are an idea generator and skilled executor, moving quickly to implement operational changes that result in material improvements to efficiency, integration, and learning. They are fully immersed and an active participant in Angi's design and UX research teams so that they understand what's working, where improvement is needed, and how to approach change management. They collaborate closely with their operations counterparts in product management and engineering to design and launch processes that are truly agile and optimized so that all functions are fully integrated and collaborating effectively. 

The Design Operations Manager's responsibilities span six areas of work: 

  1. Product Development Process: Collaborate with operations counterparts in engineering and product management to launch a refreshed Product Development Process (PDP) with updated sprint guidance and expectations for design integration with front-end facing teams, UX stories and tasks, and day-to-day execution. The Design Operations Manager will co-own the recommended PDP, implementation roadmap, and change management plan.
  2. Design Critiques: Recommend and implement improvements to design critiques to maximize teaching and skills honing.
  3. Tools & Infrastructure: Own the end-to-end tools management process, including managing invoices, renewals, and permissions; corresponding with vendors; and staying abreast of new and emerging tools so that Angi's designers are always at the leading edge of their field.
  4. Governance: Provide measurements and procedures for assuring the quality, effectiveness, and speed-to-market of our work across the organization.
  5. Design System: Own design system strategy and roadmaps that create a unifying design language across platforms with peer leaders and designers as well as drive execution and collaboration with engineering.
  6. People: Partner with UX, engineering, and product leadership to understand strategic investments and team roadmaps to help balance the portfolio of UX design talent and workloads across the organization. Identify and implement learning opportunities for the team so they stay at the leading edge of their crafts, close skills gaps, and achieve their career development goals.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience working in product design and/or Design Operations in-house, shipping products at scale and building processes for shipping products.
  • Experience with agile development/methodologies and knowledge of optimal UX integration with scrum/agile.
  • Experience in project management and change management with a strong process improvement background. 
  • Experience influencing stakeholders at different levels in dynamic organizations to align on long-term solutions.
  • Strong people partnership skills with the ability to work effectively on cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and competing objectives in a fast-paced environment while delivering results.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • The salary band for this position ranges from $100,000 - $140,000 and commensurate with experience and performance. Compensation may vary based on factors such as cost of living.
