This Design Engineering position is an integral role in the design, development and implementation of highly efficient and reliable clothes washers and dryers with superior performance. The position will closely interact with other engineers along with manufacturing and commercial teams to understand all consumer queues in an effort to design and produce new and innovative products that lead the market. The use of skilled engineering analysis and judgment with a strong desire to exceed customer expectations in every way is paramount to position success.

How You'll Create Possibilities
- Function as a Design Engineer, within a cross-functional team, responsible for developing optimized solutions around cost, quality and performance for new part/subsystem designs for Washers and Dryers.
- Own the design of these parts from initial concept to full production implementation.
- Innovate new high efficiency washers and/or dryers with respect to energy and/or water usage while maintaining leading positions in performance and reliability.
- Work closely with the manufacturing, quality and commercial teams from product concept to production implementation.
- Develop and evaluate multiple design concepts with the use of engineering analysis, rapid prototyping techniques and general hands-on skills.
- Test and evaluate GE Appliances as well as competitor models to identify best practices in design, manufacturing and performance.
- Utilize CREO to perform component and subsystem design.
- Work with multiple suppliers to ensure proper material selection as well as process applicability.
- Utilize statistical tools to ensure robust design in high volume manufacturing and assembly application.
- Occasional travel may be required.
What You'll Bring to Our Team
Minimum Qualifications / Requirements
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of Design Engineering experience
- Experience designing and testing plastic and/or sheet metal parts.
- Fluent use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word software packages.
- Solid written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior Washing Machine or Dryer design experience
- MS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Knowledge of Laundry Industry performance evaluation methods.
- Ability to design, build, and execute a test plan and clearly present data to a diverse group and openly debate technical issues
- Solid understanding of tooling design for part design optimization.
- Proficient in lab view, PLC programming, or other control development package.
- Experience with design concept development through rapid prototyping techniques.
- Ability to quickly frame up a problem by developing a test set up with instrumentation, developing and running experiments, and providing recommendations.
- Ability to work multiple design options in parallel and use engineering logic to narrow selection to optimum design.
- Use statistical tools to identify real and meaningful changes in performance.
- Resourceful laboratory and shop skills.
