Position Summary: The DCCC Deputy Communications Director works hand in hand with the Communications Director and National Press Secretary to create the long-term communications strategy and day-to-day operations of House Democrats' campaign arm.
The Deputy Communications Director is responsible for managing the Regional Press Secretaries, providing coaching and guidance as they develop relationships with local media in a large number of targeted congressional districts and work with individual candidates and campaigns to develop and implement aggressive, individualized earned media strategies. The Deputy Communications Director provides strategic advice as regionals work with Congressional campaigns to establish best practices for regular campaign and rapid response communication. In addition, the Deputy Communications Director will serve as a resource as Regional Press secretaries train campaign staff on how to run and maintain an effective campaign communications operation.
Responsibilities Include:

  • Managing Regional Press Secretaries and providing coaching, guidance, and strategic advice as needed to help targeted Congressional campaigns;
  • Developing systems and workflow for Congressional campaigns across the country
  • Approving DCCC outward facing materials to ensure they reflect the DCCC's strategic direction;
  • On-the-record work and reporter outreach;
  • Assistance for in-district, national press events and;
  • Performing other duties as needed.

Requirements
  • Multiple cycles of campaign communications experience, ideally with a combination of experience on-the-ground with campaigns and with a Committee or other large organization; management experience on a political communications team
  • Team-player, highly organized with strong organizational skills
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Passionate about making sure Democrats across the house battlefield have the tools, resources, and support they need to run effective campaigns
  • Draws from team members' strengths, empowering them to maximize their talents; contributes where needed to achieve and exceed goals; mentors and guides colleagues with regular feedback and recognition; clearly lays out vision and expectations to the team
  • Proactively fosters an inclusive atmosphere and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is the official national Democratic campaign committee charged with electing Democrats to the U. S. House of Representatives.
