Pay Range: $ 16.22/hr - $ 19.06/hr
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Department Clerk provides support services to maintain the daily work flow for the Patient Financial Services Department. These support services may include, but are not limited to, phone coverage, general filing, photocopying, scanning, mail and correspondence distribution, storing and retrieving source documents, processing of legal requests, calling on patient statements that are returned via mail, ordering and maintaining office supplies, compiling and submitting hard copy claims with supporting documentation.
EDUCATION / TRAINING / EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
Previous medical/hospital office experience
Experience with Microsoft programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook and Access
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
Minimum:
Type 35wpm (current certificate within three years)
Desired:
KPH greater than or equal to 8,000 with 90% accuracy rate (current certificate within three years)
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES:
Must have a general understating of medical and billing terminology forms. Able to ten key by touch. Able to operate various office machines, possess good telephone communications skills. Ability to handle multiple concurrent requests and projects of a clerical nature. Must show sensitivity for the hospitalized patient and family and maintain strict confidentiality. Must exhibit excellent teamwork and customer service skills. Must be able to follow instructions, work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment. Must work effectively with staff and public. Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
