Embrace a brighter future starting with a smile. We are currently looking for a new Dental Director in New York. 
 

Position Overview:
 

As the Dental Director for the state of New York, you will be the leading clinician team overseeing dental care management activities. This role involves ensuring regulatory compliance, safety, and adherence to standards of care, with a focus on driving Clinical Quality Management and initiatives aligned with state oral health care policies while maintaining financial stability.


Job Summary Details:

  • Manage all Dental Care Management (DCM) activities in New York.
  • Review and update established clinical protocols, criteria, and guidelines, along with adjudication principles.
  • Identify potentially unnecessary services in relation to care delivery settings, potential quality issues and trends in prospective and retrospective claims submissions, and members in need of case management and/or disease management activities or interventions.
  • Examine dental charts for focused audits of aberrant utilization and care delivery patterns.
  • Conduct occasional on-site chart reviews within the state provider network.
  • Review Profit and Loss (P&L) statements and make recommendations for improved program performance.
  • Monitor key performance metrics for the assigned New York market and surrounding eastern states.
  • Represent LIBERTY in meetings with clients, regulators, and stakeholders in New York and surrounding eastern states.
  • Participate in corporate dental consultant training and calibration.
  • Collaborate with all LIBERTY committees that require a clinical presence.
  • Provide Clinical Oversight to clinical activities provided by the Dental Wellness Team.
  • Participate in all innovative dental programs and activities.
  • Support the clinical review of claims, pre-estimates, specialty care referrals, grievance and appeal, and back-up claims review for the New York market (as local state regulations permit).
  • May consult periodically with a Dental Board-Eligible and/or certified specialist or academic specialist within the New York Community to make informed decisions for individual enrollees.

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum DDS/DMD Degree.
  • Active, unrestricted license or certification to practice dental or related health profession in New York in good standing (must pass credentialing - no probation or listed sanctions).


Years of Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of clinical dentistry experience, including experience in Dental Managed Care Organization and Government Programs (i.e., Medicare and Medicaid).
  • Leadership and proven staff development roles.


Specific Skills/Knowledge:

  • Ability to work in a team providing leadership and implementing consensus or organizational required activities.
  • Demonstrated performance in managing oral health care cost and utilization management.
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial and managed care delivery systems, reimbursement mechanisms, state regulatory and legislative landscape, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of clinical dentistry procedure codes and generally accepted clinical and adjudication guidelines on the medical necessity of proposed dental procedures.
  • Must comply with applicable federal and state statutes and regulations.
  • Project management exposure with the ability to create and implement plans successfully.
  • Computer literacy with the ability to easily acquire a working knowledge of new system applications.
  • Ability to apply alternate benefits where applicable and consistent with plan guidelines and/or generally accepted professional protocols or guidelines.
  • Possess basic Microsoft Application skills (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).


 

Location: 

Our employees are distributed in office locations in multiple markets across the United States.  This position requires that candidate resides in New York. We are unable to hire or allow employees to work outside of the United States.

Compensation:

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary for this position is $167,830 - $200,000, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses.  If you are hired at LIBERTY, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience.  In addition to those factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any, final offer.  Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role.  Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth.
