General Description
Every employee is expected to serve as a member of the Real Food Store team in fulfilling the needs of our customers and our business, performing whatever tasks may be assigned in addition to the specific responsibilities described below.
Job Purpose
Enforces department procedures and supervises Deli staff in the Deli Manager’s absence. Trains, along with the deli manager, all cooks, bakers, and customer service personnel. Assists in maintaining good morale of deli staff.
Responsibilities
Management
- Acts as Deli Manager in her absence
- Works opposite the Deli Manager to ensure optimal supervision of the department
- Covers for deli staff when they are unable to work a shift
- Must understand and support the store’s and deli’s mission
- Delegate daily duties as needed
Customer Service
- Be a model of excellence in customer service
- Portray sincere friendliness even under extenuating or frustrating circumstances
- Keep current on any store events, activities or promotions to answer customer questions
- Maintain personal appearance, cleanliness, and hygiene standards appropriate for public contact
Purchasing
- Maintain and improve buying and stocking systems in order to ensure department is well-stocked, attractive and dynamic
- Be familiar with deli ordering procedures and act as the lead orderer for deli ingredients in the absence of the Deli Buyer
- Ensure appropriate credits are received from distributors
Qualifications
- Possess a high degree of integrity and management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including listening and giving clear instructions
- Able to make decisions in emergency situations
- Able to work as a team member with other managers
- Able to handle a broad range of responsibilities and multi-task
- Able to work a flexible schedule with a minimum of 35 hours per week
- Have excellent customer service experience
- Able to read and interpret financial statements
- Demonstrate computer expertise
- Must be able to bend, stoop, reach lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds
- Must be comfortable working on your feet on a concrete floor for 4 hours at a stretch
- Have knowledge about recipes, ingredients and cooking practices to answer customer’s questions
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
