As our new Sustainability/Decarbonization Managing Consultant, you will be part of the Transformational Sustainability Service Line (TSSL) in Ramboll’s Environment & Health Division. Our group consists of energetic, caring individuals who are passionate about helping Ramboll’s clients tackle their most challenging problems related to climate change and sustainability. The TSSL Group consults with clients across various industries on a range of topics, using technical analyses, including carbon emissions, to inform our client’s sustainability approach in areas as varied as: carbon strategy; corporate sustainability initiatives; climate risk evaluation; climate action planning; environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy. The individual we seek will effectively: manage consulting assignments (including budgets and schedules); work in multi-disciplinary teams; analyze and communicate information; and work cooperatively to guide decision-making. The successful candidate also has a commitment to mentoring and developing junior staff.
Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:
- Managing all aspects of delivering sustainability and decarbonization analyses, with an emphasis on scope 1, scope 2, and scope 3 GHG inventories, climate disclosure (CDP, TCFD), science-based targets (SBTi), net-zero strategies, and sustainability roadmaps
- Designing and developing technical analyses, including scope 3 assessments and decarbonization opportunities
- Critically reviewing and interpreting regulations related to sustainability (e.g., pending SEC Climate Rules) and voluntary standards, guidance, and reporting frameworks (e.g., GHG Protocol, ISO 14064 series, Science-based targets initiative (SBTi) guidance)
- Assisting clients in voluntary greenhouse gas and sustainability reporting activities, in alignment with standards and frameworks including CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, Global Reporting Index, GRESB and others.
- Actively demonstrate thought leadership by hosting webinars and developing blogs/articles on a variety of sustainability topics, sharing technical insights and industry trends.
- Ensuring projects deliver quality results to clients and adhere to scope, schedule, and budget
- Making cross-disciplinary connections with staff and other managers, and collaborate with staff to balance workloads
- Training and mentoring less experienced staff to enable them to take the lead on technical tasks

- B.S./M.S./Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability or related discipline
- 10+ years of sustainability and decarbonization experience
- 10+ years of consulting experience
- Subject matter expertise in scope 1-3 GHG inventory calculations, methods and standards (e.g. GHG Protocol)
- Experience delivering decarbonization projects to clients, including development of project scopes, coordination and delegation of work, and management of budget and schedule.
- Strong spreadsheet and database skills
- Strong written/verbal communication, problem-solving and organization skills
- Initiative, good judgement, and strong prioritization skills
- Ability to work independently to a deadline
- Ability to manage client and organizational relationships
- Ability to manage and prioritize competing stakeholder interests
Preferred Skills include:
- Experience developing GHG Targets, especially SBTi
- Certifications from standard setters like WRI, ISO, GHGP etc.
- Voluntary and/or Mandatory GHG Verification experience
- Experience with audit or assurance engagements
- Ability to explain technical information to all project stakeholders
- Formal training in GHG Inventories, such as graduate level training or professional certification
- Familiarity with voluntary climate change and sustainability methodologies and reporting frameworks (e.g., GHGP, TCFD, CDP, SASB, GRI, GRESB, PCAF)
- Knowledge of or experience in developing supplier engagement programs
- Experience completing life cycle assessments or product carbon footprints (optional)

Salary Transparency Statement
At Ramboll, your base pay is only part of your overall total compensation package. At the time of this posting, this role is likely to be compensated at an annual base salary between $108,000 and $130,000. Actual pay may be more or less than the posted range, depending on numerous factors, including experience, geographical location, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and skill level, and does not include bonuses, overtime, or other forms of compensation or benefits
