Daycare Center Director

DAYCARE CENTER DIRECTOR – Little Sprouts Daycare Center operated by the Colonie Youth Center, Inc. 

The Colonie Youth Center has an immediate opening for a qualified daycare director to work in a brand-new Daycare Center located at the Shaker Place Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Colonie, New York.  The center has five classrooms and will serve approximately 66 children.  

The daycare director will be working to develop the program, secure a NYSOCFS license, and oversee all components necessary to open the center as soon as possible.  

The daycare director will ultimately manage the entire operation of the program.  Their responsibilities will include creating a culture of inclusion and belonging for children and staff, supervising staff, providing staff development opportunities, developing age-appropriate curriculum, and engaging families. 

We are seeking candidates with a strong knowledge of regulatory standards and child development, they should also have experience in staff development, training and supervision. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

We are seeking candidates with a bachelor’s degree including or in addition to, 12 credits in Early Childhood, Child Development, or related field AND one year of full-time experience in a child day care center, family or group family day care home or other early childhood program, AND one year of experience supervising staff in a childcare program or a related field of work.

OR   NYS Children’s Program Administrator Credential, AND one year of full-time experience in a child day care center, family or group family day care home or other early childhood program, AND one year of experience supervising staff in a childcare program or a related field of work.
