DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS AND OUTREACH
This position is responsible for developing and executing marketing and communication strategies, securing sponsorships, and together with the team, event management. This position reports to the Executive Director.
ORGANIZATIONAL MISSION
CENTER supports socially and environmentally engaged lens–based projects through education, public platforms, funding, and partnerships.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
65% - MARKETING, PROMOTIONS AND PUBLIC RELATIONS
- Develop and implement communications plans with cost-effective marketing and Outreach strategies to communicate with a range of constituents through printed and electronic media and advertising
- Create, write, edit and produce press releases, publications, videos, collateral, newsletters, social media content, and printed materials
- Update and maintain organization’s online publications
- Manage and coordinate marketing campaigns including social media advertising, Google Ads and others
- Monitor, analyze, and report on market trends.
25% - OUTREACH & EVENTS
- Communicate and collaborate with partners, stakeholders, and organizations to advance CENTER’s mission
- Together with the team manage the annual fundraising events and campaign
- Together with the team manage the execution of all organization events in (timelines, content, budget, logistics, sponsors)
- Secure and manage corporate sponsorships and benefits
10% - ADMINISTRATION
- Attend CENTER program and administrative meetings
- Together with the team create the annual report
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications, design, or a related field,
- Minimum of 7 years of marketing, communications, and/or nonprofit experience; or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the work successfully,
- Command of marketing trends and effective marketing techniques,
- Excellent and prompt written and verbal communications skills,
- Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously and successfully,
- Able to effectively multitask, set priorities, shift priorities, and adapt to changes,
- Highly experienced with e-newsletter production and message development,
- Strong computer skills In Word, WordPress, and design/ layout software, and marketing software (Adobe) or related area,
- Experience working with aggressive project deadlines,
- Able to work a flexible schedule, which may include a small number of nights and weekends.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong writer with excellent proofreading skills,
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail,
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet multiple deadlines,
- Ability to closely collaborate with colleagues and function as part of an integrated team,
- Demonstrated problem solving ability in complex and ambiguous situations,
- Must demonstrate a "can do" attitude and able to incorporate feedback from others,
- Nonprofit experience a big plus
- Photographic field knowledge a big plus
COMPENSATION
- Dependent on experience, ranges from $36-40/hour
- Beginning at 15 hours per week, 25+ around the print deadlines (January & June) and Fall conference (October/November)
- Days and times can be flexible
- Primarily remote work with Santa Fe based meetings and programs
- SANTA FE & NORTHERN NEW MEXICO RESIDENTS PREFERRED.
