Database Administrator/Developer

Winston Brands is looking for a Database Administrator to join our Information Technology team. The Database Administrator is responsible for the strategy, design, creation and maintenance of the company's databases, ETL, and Business Intelligence environments. In this role you will interact with executive and senior management to determine the direction of the business and how the company's data can support movement in that direction. You will, also, interact with business SME's to learn about business needs and to determine how data can support these needs. You will work closely with Infrastructure team and assist with database administration to ensure scalability, availability and performance. This is a newly added position, we are excited to fill!
Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Develops expert-level knowledge of all WBI data stores, data-marts, inter-dependencies, and data flows between the various datasets.
• Accountable for building and maintaining a Winston Brands data catalog and data dictionary.
• Works directly with data owners to establish data governance and will serve as the chair of the data governance board.
• Works directly with data users to create user stories that describe their analytical needs
• Creates database designs and data flows that are compatible with analytical needs and provide for high availability and high quality
• Minimizes database downtime and manages parameters to provide fast query responses
• Performs tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, integrity and consistency between various data sources
• Creates logical models that include relationships, constraints, attributes and other modeling information
• Responsible for support and maintenance of the Winston Brands ETL services.
• Designs and creates dimensional and fact based tables based on user stories and ERD models
• Creates procedures and triggers necessary to maintain data integrity and populate analytical tables
• Creates and maintains data dictionaries
• Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required
• Troubleshoots database issues, like performance, downtime, data quality, etc.
• Follows published IT schedules
• Manages the administration of the analytical tools used by WBI
• Works closely with Infrastructure team on database administration, backup and recovery to ensure scalability, availability and performance
• Stays abreast of development in database technology, proposes and implements innovative solutions as they fit into company strategy

• Expert knowledge of database technologies, design and support methods (on-prem and cloud)
• Skills that support emerging database technologies (Snowflake, Hadoop, Elastisearch, etc.)

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Sciences or related field is required
• 5+ years' experience in database design, especially for analytical purposes
• 5 + years' experience in data warehouse and data mart creation and maintenance
• 5 + years and expert level SQL skills
• 5 + years' experience with MS SQL Server
• Experience with IBM DB2 on an iSeries is a plus
• Experience with Snowflake is required

• Experience with ODBC connectivity
• Open to Remote must live in Illinois, Wisconsin, North Carolina or Florida
