Database Administrator

MJ Holding Company, LLC is the largest North American distributor of trading cards (including gaming, sports, and entertainment), related trading card supplies, collectibles, toys, and hot trend items. We provide retail supply chain management and specialize in category planning, planogram development, initial distribution, replenishment, and merchandising of the modular for our retail partners. We've been in the trading card distribution business since 1993. Over the years, we developed an effective category management process that helped grow our retail distribution footprint across all of the United States and Canada. Our expansion has seen the acquisition of 5 companies since 2000, and partnerships with the strongest retail stores and biggest brands in the game.
MJH is growing and we're looking for an exceptional candidate to join our team! The Database Administrator
will perform maintenance activities to keep databases available and performing optimally. Ensuring scheduled jobs are coordinated and monitored. Troubleshooting of database incidents, routine maintenance of indexes, performance monitoring / management and other miscellaneous tasks that can per performed at night to support the continued improvement of data delivery while minimizing the consumption of system resources. This is a second shift role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Administer database servers and second shift data operations
• Utilize monitoring tools and alerts to maintain the performance and availability of data systems
• Monitor and manage database maintenance windows and backups
• Monitor night jobs and second shift operations
• Support hardware and software deployments
• Install, update, upgrade, and patch database server software as directed
• Support business and warehouse operations at multiple sites, in multiple time zones
• Provide technical support to other members of the IT team as needed
• Triage user issues and failed SQL Server Agent jobs
• Participate in data migration and the development of ETL's
• Design and develop data solutions using T-SQL, SSIS, and other data development tools.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create and maintain technical documentation for servers, databases, and solutions developed with data tools.

Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Competencies

• Knowledge of database architecture and administration
• Proficient with SQL Server Availability Groups administration, support, troubleshooting, patching
• Knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards
• Working knowledge of database programming and scripting
• Proficient with SQL Server Integrated Services
• Excellent communication and organization skills
• Work proficiently both individually and collaboratively within the team
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Desire and ability to drive continuous improvement
• Ability to learn and utilize new technologies as needed to perform job functions.
• Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling

Education

• Bachelor's degree in data or computer-related field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, Data Science or Data Mining and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience

• Minimum of 1-2 years of operational database experience, specifically Microsoft SQL Server
