Work Schedule:
This position works remotely, hybrid, or Onsite a regularly scheduled 40-hour workweek; hours are flexible and may extend earlier in the day or later in the evening as duties necessitate; this position is exempt and not eligible for overtime pay.

Summary
MS SQL Server Database Administrator is responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical MS SQL Server RDBMS systems. They’ll have the primary ownership of ensuring availability and consistent performance of various corporate applications. This role will work closely with Data Engineers, Developers and IT teams to help develop, optimize and scale our SQL server environment (Servers, databases, data models, ETL, database security and related applications.)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and upgrade MS SQL Server instances both on-premises and in a Cloud environment.
- Monitor database performance and optimize query execution plans.
- Implement and manage database security measures, including user authentication, roles, and permissions.
- Identify and resolve performance issues through query optimization, index tuning, and server configuration.
- Conduct database capacity planning to anticipate future storage and performance needs.
- Assist developers with properly modifying existing database objects and creating new database objects.
- Assist developers in performance tuning logic and optimization recommendations on projects.
- Conduct database performance monitoring and analysis to identify bottlenecks and implement appropriate solutions.
- Investigate and resolve database-related incidents and errors.
- Be available for support during business-critical windows.
- Ensure high levels of performance, availability, sustainability, and security.
- Develop and enforce database standards and best practices including performance, security, and monitoring.
- Creating standard d database documentation – diagrams, data modeling, policies and procedures.
- Windows Operating System tuning improvements, managing, and coordinating server reboots and SQL related upgrades when necessary.
- Perform other related tasks and projects as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in a related field is preferred.
- 3+ years of experience as a MS SQL Server DBA or similar role
- Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO)
- Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
- Experience of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
- Experience with Windows server, including Active Directory
- Strong knowledge of SQL Server database administration, including installation, configuration, backup and recovery, security, and performance tuning
- Good experience with SSIS ETL processing
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and administration tasks.
- Experience using DBA tools like SQL Sentry, Azure monitors etc. to monitor performance.

- MCTS, MCITP, and/or MVP certifications a plus
Highly Preferred:
- Experience with Azure or Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Experience with virtualization.
- Experience working in a HIPAA, SOC, HITRUST, ISO, or otherwise regulated or process-controlled organization.
- Working knowledge of databases such as PostgreSQL, and non-relational document DB's like MongoDB & MongoDB Atlas and AWS DynamoDB.
- Exposure to any healthcare Information System (Epic, Cerner, Centricity, Allscripts, NextGen, and others)
