Position Description:

Analyzes and implements database technology infrastructure solutions using SQL Server, Sybase, and Azure Cloud technologies (SQL MI, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Striim). Supports database solutions for enterprise development, test, and production capabilities within on-premises and Cloud environments (Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure). Supports large business critical database platforms using Oracle, AQL, IBM DB2, and Cassandra. Maintains data movement, Change Data Capture (CDC), and data replication tools within Cloud-native environments (SQL and Oracle). Assesses readiness of new systems for conversion -- routine procedures, system administration, recovery and restart scenarios, error procedures, distribution of software releases, distribution of data, and network management. Performs maintenance of Oracle databases -- backups, restorations, data pumps, archives, and review logs-- to locate and resolve errors and potential issues.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides 24x7 on-call production support.
  • Creates Oracle databases and performs upgrades and patching.
  • Modifies existing databases and database management systems.
  • Diagnoses and troubleshoots storage issues.
  • Supports production and operation capacity.
  • Defines security requirements and operational procedures to ensure compliance with security framework.
  • Identifies environment (operational or application) modifications to improve security.
  • Monitors and reports on the progress of change implementation efforts.
  • Coordinates highly available and resilient database platforms through automation with integrated security and testing.
  • Reviews space capacity and performs tasks to monitor space usage.
  • Performs application database administration.
  • Develops methods for integrating products by customizing commercial databases to fit specific needs.
  • Designs and implements complex databases and business critical designs.
  • Automates recoverability for non-highly available databases.
  • Defines complex database and data warehousing methodologies.
  • Ensures capacity management and performance tuning of assigned database.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Applied Computer Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Applications, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Database Administrator (or a closely related occupation) performing database and Cloud administration within financial, healthcare, and banking service environments.

Or, alternatively, Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Applied Computer Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Applications, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Database Administrator (or a closely related occupation) performing database and Cloud administration within financial, healthcare, and banking service environments.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") performing backup and restoring databases to setup development, pre-production, and standby environments using RMAN backup and recovery utilities - MSSQL Server Backup and Restore Utilities.
  • DE performing database migrations from on-premise Cloud to Oracle, SQL server, Sybase, PostgreSQL, and MySQL databases using Golden Gate, STRIIM, AWS Database migration services, and AWS schema conversion tool.
  • DE creating jobs, scheduling weekly job maintenance, and scheduling SSIS packages using SQL Server Agent; migrating data loads from AWS S3 bucket to AWS RDS databases; and tuning SQL queries using database Tuning Advisor, SQL Server Profiler Tool, Explain Plan, TKPROF, STATSPACK, AWR, and ADDM reports.
  • DE creating Jenkins pipelines for Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) throughout database infrastructure build and database code deployment processes using Shell and Groovy Scripts.
