Position Summary
The Data Governance Controls Analyst (DGCA) plays an important role in overseeing and facilitating the execution and fulfillment of Data Governance Controls. This position is a crucial component of our comprehensive Data Protection program and involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Under the direction of a full-time team leader, the DGCA will utilize Data Governance tools (e.g., Informatica IDMC) to ensure workflows are effectively executed and the maintenance of Data Governance metadata.
- The DGCA will troubleshoot data source scans, placing special focus on Personal Identifying Information (PII) and Personal Health Information (PHI)
- Assess current levels of data protection including tokenized fields and/or other controls.
- Document scan results and link with various business concepts (e.g., business terms, reports, processes) as represented in NYL’s enterprise catalog (e.g., Informatica CDGC)
- Engage with data stewards and other subject matter experts as necessary to address overlooked control requirements and associated activities.
- Maintain frequent communication with team leaders and regularly engage with the broader Data Governance team to convey findings and updates.
Experience
- Demonstrated ability and persistence to analyze data and solve problems
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and hypothesize cause and effect relationships
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changes
- Effective use of SQL (TOAD, SQL Workbench)
- Effective and timely communication in verbal and written forms
- Team-oriented and able to interact with a diverse group
- A proactive self-starter with the ability to work independently and remotely (e.g., via Zoom)
- Hands-on experience with Informatica tools (including CDGC, AXON, EDC, IDQ, CDQ)
- Experience with Data Governance and stewardship is desired
- Basic understanding of insurance business and its products is desired
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, Bachelor’s degree in progress, or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years with a role in data management, business analysis or problem solving
Salary range: $72,500-$107,500
Overtime eligible: Exempt
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes
