DAs are big data specialists and champions of data integrity. At UMW, our DAs have extensive data modeling skills and provide prescriptive guidance across storage, operating systems, RDBMS & NoSQL databases, data analytics, BI/reporting and security.
As a DA you will be responsible for the availability, curation, stewardship and usability of our vast data estate. The ideal candidate will have experience with conceptual, logical and physical data modeling and passionate about defining Data Architecture framework, standards and principles.

This position reports directly to Architecture.
- Design and implement a modern Data Architecture (warehouse, relational, NoSQL, data streaming, containers, microservices, iPaaS)
- Experience defining Data Flows, reference Data Architecture, and Inmon, Kimball, OLAP, star and snowflake schemas
- Management of the availability, usability and security of our data
- Maintaining database model for performance
- Interact well with multiple teams
- Strong ability to prioritize multiple simultaneous requests
- Help aid in the success of projects
Required:
- 5+ Years of database development and modeling experience
- Working knowledge of SQL Server as a DBA or Developer
- Ability to work with limited guidance in a team environment
- Computer-related degree or equivalent work experience
- Experience in evaluating technologies
- Full software life-cycle experience
- Ability to mentor team members
- Schema Design (Relational & Dimensional)
- OLTP / OLAP / Graph / Multi-Model / NoSQL
- ETL/ELT process design and tooling
- Data Modeling Tools (Erwin Data Modeler, etc.)
Preferred:
- Experience with Hardware/Software specific to Data Architecture
- Experience with BI Tooling (PowerBI/Excel, Tableau)
- Awareness/experience with Kafka, Kylin, marklogic, cassandra, Hadoop, cosmosdb, HDFS, R
- Experience in evaluating services offered by external vendors
- Experience in the mortgage industry
- Experience in an Agile environment
- Architecture Certification (TOGAF, CITA, EACOE).
