The Department
Picture Shop’s On Location Services is part of Streamland Media, a rapidly expanding global post production team. As the name alludes, our department provides dailies color correction services and editorial rentals on set, near set, in a nearby facility (Burbank, Atlanta, Vancouver, Toronto, London, NYC), as well as remote cloud services. We are a team of colorists, operators, producers, and engineers with cumulative knowledge of hardware, software, color management, color correction, editing, camera and networking that work together to make complex workflows possible and to adapt constantly with the ever-changing landscape of camera formats and client requests.
The Role
We are looking to add a Dailies Support Engineer to our team that will focus on tier 1 technical support of our operators and dailies colorists. You will assist in troubleshooting issues our operators encounter on a nightly basis, solving what you can, and filtering more complex problems and requests up to higher-level engineering. You should be able to work well on a team and have strong inter-personal skills to be able to provide support to colorists/operators and communicate their needs well to upper-level engineering. Many of the skills for this job can be learned and perfected on the job, but it is highly important you are a self-starter, can absorb new information and have a knack for technical problem solving.
The Required Skills
- Knowledge of picture industry technology, standards, codecs, and practices
- Familiarity with prominent cameras and formats from ARRI, Sony, Red, Blackmagic etc.
- Experience with post production software (Colorfront, Resolve, Filmlight, Adobe CC, Avid)
- Passion for post production
- Ability to solve problems in a fast-paced work environment
- Willingness to have flexible schedule
- Eagerness to learn
- Highly organized
- Self starter/self-motivated
- Strong communication skills to explain technical things to non-technical people
- Maintain positive and confident outlook
- Experience working in post production and/or dailies
The Beneficial Skills
- Familiarity with command line interface
- Experience with computer and storage hardware
- Familiarity of OSX, Windows, Linux operating systems
- Knowledge of A/V systems and consumer technology
- Knowledge of color science
- Storage hardware setup (SAN, NAS, DAS, NVMe)
- Networking experience
- Experience calibrating monitors/displays
- Experience with LTO tapes and archiving
The listed pay range is the salary or hourly wage range that we reasonably expect to pay for this position at the time of posting. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of factors including but not limited to background, skills, experience, education, geographic location and market demands.
