SalaryThe Transportation Research Center Inc. is seeking to hire a Research Engineer to support research related to cybersecurity vulnerabilities on commonly used wireless and physical interfaces on motor vehicles. The Cybersecurity Research Engineer is responsible for performing and analyzing research across various disciplines, working with engineers to conduct complex engineering testing and analyses, and providing technical reports and presentations to assist in planning and direction. Demonstrated ability working with multiple programming languages is required. ?Experience analyzing binaries with Ghidra or IDA Pro, using Linux at the command line level, and designing/analyzing circuitry is preferred. A Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Computer Information Science, Computer Science Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or similar discipline and/or previous experience conducting cybersecurity research is preferred.
Essential Functions*
Develop and use of analytical procedures, component and/or full-scale vehicle testing
Conduct research relating to a wide variety of motor vehicle safety issues
Perform design analyses of motor vehicle safety systems
Evaluate technical proposals

Qualifications
Master’s degree in engineering or bachelor's degree and equivalent experience
Technical knowledge to solve tough substantive, work-related problems
Strong communication skills
Proficiency in technical writing
Computer skills for scientific and technical applications
Skilled in handling multiple projects
Proficient in managing projects
Working conditions
Standard office, climate-controlled environment
Physical requirements
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended period
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
Ability to communicate with customers and co-workers
