Job Description
RESPONSIBILITY:
Under the direction of the supervisor, the Cutter Operator has the full responsibility of the set up and operation of the machine to ensure that quality products are achieved at a consistent rate of speed in accordance with machine standards. This position is also responsible for Die Shop responsibilities as needed to cover production needs during this time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Review previous shift's production run to determine status
- Follow all instructions that are issued on the work jacket and advise the supervisor of any incorrect or non-recorded information that is necessary for proper set up and operation
- Set up and operate the machine in a consistent and safe manner while adjusting machine as required to attain target speeds
- Correctly record production information on pallet card and post counts to production report
- Take ownership of machine including ensuring that the work area is kept clean, be responsible for all equipment and tools assigned to the machine and notify the supervisor of any additional tools or equipment that would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation
- Analyze, troubleshoot and correct production problems as they occur and contact the supervisor for assistance when needed
- Consistently consider increased machine speeds while inspecting product quality until target speed is reached, balance quality and efficiencies
- Consistently perform and adhere to all quality processes and procedures ensuring that quality checks are completed per policy and immediately bringing any quality issues to the attention of the supervisor
- Adapt and be open to new procedures and technology
- Responsible for covering die shop during shift to meet production needs including preparing the pre-make ready(s) and re-knifing dies
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Safety minded, able and willing to understand and follow all written and oral instructions and comply with all company policies, procedures and work rules
- High attention to quality with a customer focus
- Regular attendance and reporting for work on time are necessary requirements
- Attendance at training sessions monthly and annually
- Must have flexibility and availability to work overtime when needed, including some Saturdays
- Must be able to read and understand instructions given on work order, transfer and record information on Production Report
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
QUALIFICATIONS/ EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- 1+ year experience in folding carton/paper packaging plant as a Cutter Operator preferred
- Bobst Cutter experience is a plus
- HS Diploma or equivalent
