Customer Service Representative (Front Counter Clerk)

The right landscaping materials can make any home, neighborhood, office park or public space an oasis of natural beauty. We are currently seeking a motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Customer Service Representative (Front Counter Clerk). This is an in house retail sales and administration role. The applicant should be proficient in QuickBooks, excel and basic computer skills. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting customers at the counter, providing product information, processing transactions, and ensuring a positive customer experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Responsibilities:

• Customer Service: Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner, answering inquiries about landscaping materials, pricing, and product availability.
• Product Knowledge: Develop a comprehensive understanding of Lanier Material Sales' product offerings, including soils, mulches, natural stone offerings, and more, to provide accurate information and recommendations to customers.
• Order Processing: Efficiently process customer orders, including invoicing, handling payments, and coordinating delivery schedules.
• Problem Resolution: Address and resolve customer concerns or issues promptly, ensuring a positive resolution and customer satisfaction.
• Upselling and Cross-selling: Identify opportunities to upsell or cross-sell additional products based on customer needs and preferences.
• Maintain Clean and Organized Workspace: Keep the counter area clean, organized, and visually appealing. Assist with general store maintenance as needed.

Qualifications:

• Strong Customer Service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
• Proficient in QuickBooks, excel and basic computer skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Basic mathematical skills for processing transactions.
• Ability to learn and retain product knowledge.
• Knowledge or interest in landscaping materials is beneficial.

• Day shift

Weekly day range:

• Monday to Friday
• Weekend availability

Education:

• High school or equivalent (preferred)

Experience:

• Prior experience in a retail or Customer Service role (1 year): preferred
