The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has a job opening for a Custodian for the Respite Program for the New Orleans Area Command, New Orleans, LA.
Job Summary:
Cleans and sanities bathroom, polishes mirror and replenishes supplies. Sweeps, vacuums, mops, and waxes floors; sweeps sidewalks. Cleans windows, dusts and polishes furniture and fixtures. Washes, folds and stores laundry and linens. Empties trash cans regularly. Assists the public in unloading and carrying donations. May drive Salvation Army vehicles to pick-up and//or deliver miscellaneous items. Cleans apartments when residents leave. Performs other related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of general maintenance and cleaning activities for buildings and grounds. Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
Experience and Education:
High school diploma. Six months experience performing general housekeeping duties.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid State Driver's License
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to exert the physical energy required to performing housekeeping and minor maintenance work. Ability to lift and carry and/or push light (less than 25 pounds) materials, supplies and equipment.
Work is performed in a normal office environment with some exposure to outdoor temperatures, dirt, and dust and/or disagreeable sights and odors.
