The Lafayette regional office is seeking Youth Respite Mentor in the New Iberia
and surrounding areas to provide brief respite for youth with emotional or behavioral disorders in the community (parks, libraries, recreational outings) or in the youth’s home. The Short Term Respite program is designed to give the primary caregivers of youth with emotional, mental or behavioral disorders brief periods of respite (3 – 4 hours) in order for the caregiver to relax, rejuvenate, or attend to personal needs. Services are usually delivered after school hours and weekends. All Youth Respite Staff receive paid training, including CPR/First Aid.
The position requires a High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma in the area of human services. Also, a minimum of one (1) year experience working in human services, child care, education or a related field.
Applicant must pass a drug screen, TB test, Criminal Record Background Check and LA Motor Vehicle Record Check, have a valid Louisiana’s Driver’s License, current auto liability insurance, and have access to a reliable vehicle in a safe operating condition with current inspection stickers. EOE
