Job SummaryThis is manual work in the custodial care of the institution's buildings and facilities. Work involves all general responsibilities of a Custodian I position compounded by more than one year of custodial related experiences in intermediate floor care procedures. Primary responsibility is the effective use of proper methods and materials in cleaning and caring for building areas and equipment. Employees will work under close supervision, and work follows well-established routines and procedures. Employees will have very frequent contact with students, faculty and staff. Most work will be performed indoors but will require exposure to elements depending on assignment. Physical and monetary risks associated with this position are minimal. Position may require seasonal shift changes. Some overtime will be required. Perform related work as required. Position will involve working with individuals with various backgrounds.
ResponsibilitiesMaintenance - 95
Performs custodial maintenance duties of the institution's buildings and facilities. Daily cleaning of restrooms. Cleaning of classrooms hallways, stairwells, floor mats on a scheduled frequency either weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly. Wash windows, walls, trash cans, glass, and doors at height level or with appropriate equipment above height level. Clean facility wall fixtures including lights, fire alarms, fire exinguishers, drinking fountains, facility signage, ceiling fans, window ledges, door knobs, kick plates. When required, move office and dormitory furniture and equipment for cleaning. Daily trash collection and removal. Routine floor care such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, buffing, and dry carpet cleaning. Sweep outside walks, porches, and stairways attached to facility. Attend scheduled departmental meetings and trainings. Drive provided car, truck, or golf cart as related to assigned task. Report damaged structures and equipment.
Perform intermediate floor care procedures. Perform routine weekly/bi-weekly floor buffing maintenance. Perform routine monthly/quarterly floor scrubbing, carpet shampooing/bonnet buffing cleaning. Perform annual floor stripping, waxing, carpet extraction.

Educational Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent; AND at least one year of experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
