Devon Preparatory School, a Catholic college preparatory school for young men in grades six to twelve, is seeking a responsible and reliable custodial member.

Job Summary:

The Maintenance and Custodial Worker is responsible for overseeing the cleanliness, maintenance, and overall safety of a small high school campus. This role involves coordinating with other custodial personnel. The ideal candidate will have some experience maintaining a clean and welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff.

Responsibilities

Custodial Duties:

• Perform custodial tasks, including cleaning classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.
• Ensure that all cleaning activities are carried out to a high standard, adhering to established procedures and schedules.
• Assist with specialized cleaning tasks, such as carpet shampooing, window washing, and floor polishing as needed.
• Respond promptly and efficiently to cleaning emergencies, spills, and accidents.

Safety and Security:

• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and guidelines, including fire safety protocols, emergency exits, and the safe storage of hazardous materials.
• Report any safety hazards or concerns to the designated personnel and take appropriate actions to address them.

Collaboration and Communication:

• Foster positive working relationships with school administration, staff, and faculty, providing regular updates on maintenance and cleaning activities.
• Collaborate with other members of the school community to ensure a clean and organized environment for various events and activities.
• Provide assistance and support during school events or special projects as required.

Qualifications:

• Valid Driver’s License
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience in custodial services and general maintenance.
• Knowledge of cleaning techniques, materials, and equipment.
• Familiarity with basic repair tasks and use of common hand and power tools.
• Understanding of safety protocols and willingness to adhere to them.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50lbs) when necessary.
• Ability to stand, reach, bend, push and pull equipment
• Flexibility to work evenings or weekends, as required.
• Ability to to work with others and take direction from supervisor
• Pass background check (Child Abuse, Criminal and FBI Fingerprint)
