Job description

Duties

  • Provide working leadership and oversite of the day to day operations and serve as the lead on weekends, holidays and other times when supervisor is absent or otherwise disposed
  • Support a variety of assignments related to maintaining and coordinating custodial operations, which contributes to the overall operation of and visitor enjoyment of the park
  • Conduct spot checks of work operations for correct procedures and to ensure quality standards, safety practices and deadlines are met
  • Perform janitorial and custodial duties such as sweeping, or scrubbing floors; washing windows; cleaning restrooms and collecting trash

  • This is an emergency/essential position. You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
  • You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
  • Work takes place indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and requires the ability to stand for long periods of time, stoop, kneel, bend and lift 50 lbs.
  • A valid state driver's license is required.

Qualifications

In order to be qualified for this position, you must possess the ability to lead or supervise a group of workers in carrying out custodial work. I provide guidance to others on how to complete their work tasks safely and in accordance with written procedures and identify the tools and materials needed to carry out a project. I perform custodial work, such as cleaning and disinfecting public facilities, using industrial-type power scrubbers or buffers to clean or polish floors, and clearing snow and ice from walkways, roads, and steps.
