Job Description

 


- The team is responsible for managing, approving, monitoring and controlling all Credit Risks arising from our Investment Banking Division's relationships with hedge funds and fund of hedge funds.

- A candidate is required to support the hedge fund team in their day to day risk management activities. This will enable existing credit officers to engage with clients in managing the Credit Risk aspects of the business transfer. 

- The successful candidate will be an experienced Credit Risk management professional who has worked at a major investment or global commercial bank.

- He or she will have at least 7 years' experience in Credit Risk management with in in depth knowledge of traded products and their associated master agreements with at least 1 year specifically managing hedge fund risk.


Core Responsibilities


Managing the Credit Risks arising from a portfolio of Americas based hedge funds, supporting new client business and supporting the legal entity migration process. Specific accountabilities will include:


1. Undertaking annual, initial and ad hoc counterparty reviews on new and existing hedge fund clients. The process includes client meetings and/or conference calls; reviewing client constitutional documentation; and undertaking qualitative, quantitative/financial analysis to determine internal credit ratings and risk appetite at both the hedge fund group and individual fund level.

2. Trading documentation: Set Credit Risk related terms in trading documentation and liaise with our Legal department and clients or their lawyers, as appropriate;

3. Monitor the financial strength of clients and performance of transactions in the analyst's assigned portfolio, recommending appropriate risk management action to credit officers.

4. Supporting UK Credit Risk management on ad hoc policy, risk appetite and other issues to ensure effective Credit Risk management of exposures in UK legal entities.

5. Collaboration: Work closely with front office business units in Equities and Fixed Income divisions, operations and legal departments to ensure a robust control environment is maintained.


Required Skills and Experience


Education:


Essential: Relevant university degree preferably in finance, risk management, or economics.


Desirable: Finance related second degree; professional qualifications, e.g. CFA.


Experience:


Essential: The successful candidate will be an experienced Credit Risk management professional already working in major commercial or investment bank. He or she is likely to have at least 7 years' experience working in Credit Risk Management including a minimum of one year covering hedge funds. The candidate will have extensive knowledge of traded products and associated legal documentation.

? Strong product knowledge, specifically derivatives and other traded products;

? Good knowledge and understanding of traded products master agreements, e.g. ISDA, GMRA, prime brokerage agreement, etc.

? Collaborative: Communicates and works effectively with others. Good conflict management and negotiation skills.

? Innovative and solution orientated: Good problem solving skills and solution orientated. 

? Due diligence: Able to conduct unsupervised due diligence meetings with clients.

? Fluent in English, both written and oral.
