Job DescriptionOur Credit Analysts serve as vital members of Vitol Group’s Finance Matrix. The Houston Analyst team, comprised of 5 individuals, is part of a global team of 20 high-achieving credit specialists from the banking sector and the energy industry. Houston Credit Analysts are responsible for the assessment and management of Vitol’s credit risk with counterparties located in the Americas, in tight coordination with the credit teams based in London and Singapore. Credit Analysts support the different matrices - crude oil and products, power and gas, LNG, renewables, for an assigned portfolio of counterparties and projects, working closely with trading, legal, compliance and other finance functions. The role is a critical enabler and promoter of business activity and calls for the right mix of credit expertise and commercial thinking. Flat team structure allows access to all management levels deemed necessary to ensure sound and complete judgment over credit risk. Specific Job Duties Include:
- Performing quantitative and qualitative assessments of counterparts and proposing adequate credit limits
- Providing support to commercial teams on the assessment of credit risks
- Negotiating of credit provisions within commercial and credit support agreements
- Providing surveillance of the portfolio, notifying Credit and Trading managers of any significant event,
- Implementing adequate risk mitigation solutions
- Supporting commercial and business development teams in the structuring and monitoring of complex structures across the region
- Preparing global sectorial exposure reports for senior management team
- Managing and developing relationships with credit teams of trading counterparties
- 3+ years of credit risk management experience in an energy business, leading financial institution or credit rating agency
- Graduate in an analytical discipline
- Exposure to commodities trading, notably power and gas, is preferred
- Proficiency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is a plus
