Remote/Work from Home Assignments – Santa Clara County, CA
Do you enjoy or interested in doing research? Great! We’re seeking an individual or team to personally visit and conduct research at the Santa Clara County Courthouse in San Diego, CA (this is not a government-related position). Researcher will capture minimal data from public court documents; preliminary research can be performed at home via the County's website prior to visiting the courthouse. Schedule is flexible during the court's hours of operation. Researcher should initially plan a 4-hour visit once or twice weekly. The length of time and frequency of visits is dependent on the volume of filed court cases and the speed and skills of the researcher. Income is based on the number of qualifying cases researched and reported. This should be considered part-time, supplemental income, as a 1099 Independent Contractor.All assignments demand fast turnarounds of 1 week or less. Thus only organized and deadline driven applicants should apply.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Prior research experience is not required; but preferred.
- Must have reliable Internet and Email access and basic knowledge of internet, web browsers and computers.
- Prefer experience in capturing and recording important data, using shortcuts and formula functions and sorting and filtering data in spreadsheet applications compatible with MS Excel.
- Is meticulous, works independently with very little direction and exercises time management in meeting deadlines.
- Proficiently keys data with extreme accuracy.
- Willing to hand-write data if electronics are not permitted in the records office; data would then be keyed later into a pre-formatted spreadsheet.
- Maintains reliable transportation and child care as needed.
- Are physically able to walk extended distances from the parking area to the courthouse doors and able to stand at terminals if seating is not provided in the Records Office.
- Present a positive, upbeat and professional demeanor among court staff and fellow researchers, abiding by the courthouse’s policies and regulations while visiting and retrieving public data.
- Understand that a learning curve is expected initially as you invest time to develop the skills to be an excellent and rewarding researcher.
