Cornell's Faculty & Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) provides professional counseling and support tailored to meet the unique needs of Cornell faculty, staff, retirees, and their spouses/partners. Services are free, confidential, and provided by credentialed counselors.

Our services are designed to help individuals manage the struggles that come with life and work. Whether they need help navigating a personal or professional situation or relationship or are dealing with a more acute mental health concern, the team can provide support and insight and help them access the care they need.

Focused on holistic health of the larger campus community, the department supports work and life success. FSAP has been recognized for innovation and leadership, and is committed to an ongoing journey toward integrated, inclusive, accessible, and community-based services and initiatives.

The Opportunity

The Counselor Therapists of the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program are members of a multidisciplinary service team with primary responsibility for supporting the mental health and wellbeing of eligible populations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to short-term individual counseling, crisis intervention, group work, referral, and outreach services. Counselor Therapists serve as a resource for mental health education and prevention strategies across campus.

Core hours this position are Monday through Friday, 8:30AM-5:00PM, in a hybrid arrangement of 2-3 days on campus, 2-3 days remote. The number and selection of which days will be worked on campus and remotely is determined in open dialogue with the FSAP Director (your supervisor) and informed by client demand for services and other factors. Currently, this position does not required to be on-call. The university reserves the right to modify this arrangement based on future needs.

This is full-time, regular, benefits eligible 11.5-month position. You and your supervisor will mutually determine the specifics of the 11.5 months worked.

FSAP's Main Office is located at 312 College Avenue, Suite A, Ithaca, NY 14850.

What We Need

• A cover letter and resume outlining your interest and how your experience and goals align with the potential for mutual success in the role are required for consideration.
• Master's in social work (LMSW), Mental Health Counseling (LMHC) or Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT) with 3 or more years of experience.
• CPR-BLS level certification required within one year of employment and maintained biannually.
• Licensed or licensed eligible in New York State or other state or jurisdiction. If applicable, license required in New York State within two years of the initial hire date.
• Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
• Competency in one or more of the following areas: short-term counseling, bereavement and grief, couples' counseling, diversity, and multicultural issues, eating disorders, substance abuse, and trauma.

If you have all those things, great! We have a few more things that we would prefer you to have, but it's ok if you don't.

• LCSW or LCSW-R; psychology licensure in New York State
• Experience with electronic health record management systems
• Proficiency in a language in addition to English desirable
