Community Counseling and Mediation (CCM) works to improve the lives of at-risk children and families through innovative behavioral health, supportive housing, education, and youth services.
We are currently seeking enthusiastic psychotherapists to join our dynamic and compassionate team at CCM, where we provide innovative, culturally sensitive treatment at our five NYS-licensed mental health clinics located in Brooklyn and midtown Manhattan. We are dedicated to offering individual, group, and family counseling, along with comprehensive psychiatric and psychosocial assessments and diagnoses. Additionally, we offer workshops on important topics such as domestic violence, anger management, and parenting skills. Our approach is rooted in recognizing and respecting both cultural differences and the unique needs of each individual we serve.
As part of our highly diverse caseload, you will have the opportunity to work with adults, adolescents, families, and children. This position offers flexibility in hours as it is fee-for-service, and having Saturday availability is a definite plus.
At CCM, we prioritize professional growth and support. We provide clinical supervision and opportunities to accumulate clinical hours towards licensing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and diagnosis for clients using culturally sensitive and evidence-based approaches.
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions to address mental health concerns, substance abuse issues, and related challenges.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, utilizing appropriate therapeutic modalities and interventions.
- Deliver psychoeducation to clients and their families, helping them understand their conditions, coping strategies, and self-care techniques.
- Offer crisis intervention and support to clients in acute distress or experiencing psychiatric emergencies.
- Collaborate with other members of the treatment team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers, to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries, following organization and OMH guidelines.
- Participate in regular supervision, case conferences, and team meetings to enhance professional growth and ensure quality care delivery.
- Adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards, maintaining confidentiality and respecting clients' rights and autonomy.
- Collaborate with community agencies, organizations, and resources to facilitate appropriate referrals and support clients' overall well-being.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or a related field.
- Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Mental Health Counselor in New York State of practice.
- Demonstrated experience in providing mental health counseling services, preferably in an outpatient setting.
- Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic modalities and interventions for mental health and substance abuse treatment.
- Strong assessment and diagnostic skills, with the ability to formulate and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and build therapeutic relationships with diverse client populations.
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness of the unique needs and experiences of individuals from various backgrounds.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey information clearly and compassionately.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team and contribute to a positive and supportive work environment.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Ability to work both on site and remotely.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
