At DAZN, our legal practice includes all aspects of branded and original content deals, sports, media, and broadcast rights, intellectual property licensing, marketing and advertising, branded and original programming, talent agreements, pre-publication review of content and regulatory compliance. 

You'll be a self-starter who can communicate effectively, work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast paced, ever changing environment.  You are a transactions attorney, savvy in negotiating complex agreements with talent, influencers, athletes, event promoters, broadcast licensees, social media and talent agencies, and production companies. You can hold your own at the negotiating table and skillfully put together an impeccable contract to close the deal. You have an excellent ability to issue spot, assess risk and communicate and resolve legal issues quickly and effectively.

 

This role will initially be remote, but based out of Team Whistle - a DAZN Group company - headquarters at One World Trade Center in New York City, and reports to our Senior Vice President, Legal & Business Affairs, DAZN Group North America.

As our new Counsel, Business & Legal Affairs, you'll have the opportunity to:

• Draft and negotiate talent agreements, media rights and broadcast license agreements, advertising and sponsorship agreements, services agreements, and content production agreements, .
• Counsel sales, social media, talent and production teams on branded content campaigns and original programming from ideation through execution.
• Review campaigns and content for regulatory compliance (e.g. FTC, NCAA/NIL, COPPA, GDPR) and rights clearance.
• Assist with the Business & Legal Affairs team's efforts to develop and refine forms, processes and procedures
• Support contract management system.
• Provide support for the Legal & Business Affairs team where needed.

You'll have:

• JD degree with mid - senior working experience
• Admission the New York or California state bar - active and in good standing
• Extensive experience drafting and negotiating agreements required.
• Substantial understanding of intellectual property law, social media best practices, media and broadcast, rights, sports rights, and relevant federal and state consumer protection laws and regulations, with a strong desire to learn new areas of the law.
• Deep knowledge of advertising, sports, broadcast, entertainment, and technology industries and related transactions.
• Highly organized, detail oriented, collegial and self-motivated working style
• Ability to manage multiple matters and accommodate tight deadlines while working in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
