Disney Theatrical Group (DTG) is among the world’s most successful commercial theatre enterprises, producing and licensing live entertainment productions and events around the globe. Its nine Broadway titles, including the current Broadway productions of The Lion King and Aladdin have been seen by over 160 million theatergoers worldwide! We also deliver live shows through its license to Feld Entertainment, producer of Disney on Ice and Marvel Universe Live! Additionally, we license full-length, junior, and kids adapted titles for regional, school and community theatre productions.

DTG’s Business Affairs and Legal Counsel department provides business and legal services to Disney Theatrical Group, including negotiating creative, talent, vendor, merchandise, international licensee and a myriad of other deals relating to DTG’s worldwide business; negotiating and drafting contracts relating to those deals; and partnering with every department at DTG to provide business and legal counsel and deal support. If selected for this role, you will report to the Director, Business Affairs & Legal Counsel.
What You Will Do
Assist with drafting contracts and responding to and/or discussing comments with attorneys and other departments within DTG
Update and create new databases of deal summaries
Craft library of template contract provisions and template contracts
Conduct research relating to contract and deal precedents
Liaise with other legal departments throughout the company to gather information and assist business and legal analysis
Required Qualifications & Skills
Outstanding written and oral communication skills
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to handle and follow through on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
Excellent research skills; resourceful
Strong interpersonal skills and with ability to work independently
Demonstrate a high degree of discretion regarding sensitive/confidential information
Preferred Qualifications
Coursework in entertainment business, entertainment law, copyright and/or intellectual property law
Prior internship at an entertainment company or law firm, or other demonstrated interest in entertainment, with theatre interest an added bonus
Education
Successful completion of first year of law school by the start of the internship and must be currently enrolled as a law student in an ABA accredited law school
Eligibility Requirements & Program Information
Must be enrolled in an accredited university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from university or an accredited law school within 6 months at time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.
Must possess unrestricted work authorization
Position is located in New York City, NY
Additional Information
The approximate dates of this internship are June 2024 through August 2024
Must be able to work 40 hrs per week, Monday through Friday, 9am - 6pm EST onsite
Must have housing and reliable transportation to/from work
