What's unique about this role?The Corporate Counsel is responsible for a variety of duties within the Legal organization. This role provides counsel to the business's internal clients, supports the contracting process and ensures the company's compliance with all laws and regulations. The Legal Department maintains the highest standards of business and professional conduct, while providing key stakeholders and internal clients in the company with innovative and practical business advice.
What will this person do?
- Work with the Legal and Sales Excellence teams to streamline the contracting process, including owning all aspects of assigned contracts through the contract lifecycle
- Negotiate, draft, and review contracts, agreements, memos and other documents
- Ensure the organization's business practices comply with applicable laws and regulations
- Research areas of law as needed, for example, new product areas that the business might look to enter, intellectual property issues, and software licensing issues
- Represent the Legal Department in office-wide initiatives when required
- Advise and support various departments across the company, including sales, marketing, finance, engineering and production on legal issues and business risks, as well as broader company policies
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Bring your passion and together we will shine. It would also be great if you have the following:
- 5-7 years' legal experience, including at least 3+ years in-house
- JD from an accredited law school
- Recognized legal qualification in local jurisdiction (equivalent to US state Bar membership)
- Experience working in-house at a technology company is preferred
- Strong working knowledge of contracts, conflicts of interest, and compliance
- Display strong business judgment and critical thinking
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to execute while working independently as well as on teams and across other departments
- Willingness and flexibility to develop and learn new areas of expertise as necessary for changing business needs
