PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Advise HR and management on employment related legal matters
- Provide advice and legal counsel to HR and management on employee benefits concerns, including plan design, implementation, maintenance, and administration
- Draft, edit, and maintain corporate policies and training materials related to the above
- Coordinate legal investigations internally or in conjunction with outside counsel, if warranted. Provide resolution and/or report results to company management as appropriate
- Work with outside counsel as necessary in response to litigation and other legal matters
- Assist with other legal matters as assigned
- Reports to the General Counsel
MINIMUM SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires a Juris Doctorate degree and from an ABA approved law school
- Requires active membership in good standing and current authorization to practice law by the State Bar of Georgia, or a state bar association of another U.S.state
- Requires 5 - 7 years' of previous legal experience advising corporate/organizational clients
- Ability to work closely and collaboratively with HR and business partners at all levels of seniority
- Experience and expertise advising organizational clients in any of the following areas: employment law, ERISA and employee benefits law, including legal issues related to 401(k) plan administration, executive compensation
- across the organization, while providing business focused legal advice
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
DESIRED SKILLS:
- In-house counsel experience preferred but not required
- Expertise in U.S. domestic and international privacy laws a plus
- Experience working with and advising senior management
- Ability and desire to expand range of legal subject matter expertise, and assist as needed across the business
